ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a key representative of Airgas, the delivery driver contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company provided tractor trailer, straight, or box truck. This position involves loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders while frequently connecting with Airgas customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders & supplies
- Nurture courteous & professional relationships with customers
- Support deliveries in a timely manner
- Safely secure and unsecure cylinders
- Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart; we emphasize the physically active and hands-on nature of this position
- Drivers will frequently move in and out of their vehicle
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
- Valid TX Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
- Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications.
- We are looking for one (1) year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a commitment to road safety to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years.
- We also welcome graduates with a diploma from an accredited driving school and a minimum of one (1) year of prior driving experience within the last five (5) years.
- Candidates should be at least 21 years or older.
- Proficiency in navigating and comprehending material safety data sheets.
- Ability to routinely lift 25 - 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
- Ideally, you are comfortable operating vehicles with hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also part of our daily operations.
- Availability to support the team with occasional overtime if necessary.
- Ability to obtain and maintain collaborative safety credentials for customer site access.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (Forklift/Moffett).
COMPENSATION
- Pay: $27 per hour
