Get your CDL credentials verified early
SRS Distribution hires for commercial driving roles, so confirm your CDL class and endorsements meet federal DOT standards before applying. If your license was issued outside the U.S., budget time for state-level conversion, which varies by state and can take several weeks.
Target branches in high-volume markets
SRS operates hundreds of distribution branches concentrated in roofing and building supply corridors. Applying directly to branches in states with active construction markets increases your chances of reaching a hiring manager with open headcount and sponsorship flexibility.
Clarify your OPT or TN status upfront
SRS has sponsored TN and F-1 OPT candidates for Driver roles. If you're on OPT, confirm your remaining authorized period covers the onboarding timeline. TN candidates should have their employment letter and supporting documents ready before the offer stage.
Understand the PERM timeline for EB-3 sponsorship
If SRS sponsors you for an EB-3 Green Card, the process starts with PERM labor certification through DOL, which can take 12 to 18 months before USCIS even receives the immigrant petition. Factor this into your long-term work authorization planning.
Ask HR specifically about per-branch sponsorship authority
Sponsorship decisions at large distributors like SRS are often made at the branch or regional level, not centrally. Confirm during the offer stage which entity is filing, since USCIS requires the petitioning employer to be correctly identified on all immigration filings.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Driver roles
Browsing Driver openings by sponsorship type saves time when you're targeting a specific visa pathway. Migrate Mate lets you filter SRS Distribution's current Driver postings by visa category, so you can identify which roles align with your authorization situation before applying.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does SRS Distribution sponsor H-1B visas for Drivers?
SRS Distribution's sponsorship activity for Driver roles is concentrated in EB-2, EB-3, and nonimmigrant categories like TN visa and F-1 OPT rather than H-1B visa. Driver positions are generally classified as skilled trade or operational roles, which don't typically meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires for H-1B approval. Immigrant visa pathways are the more realistic route here.
How do I apply for Driver jobs at SRS Distribution?
You can apply through SRS Distribution's careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which aggregates their open Driver postings and filters them by visa sponsorship type. When applying, highlight your CDL class, DOT medical certification, and any relevant experience hauling building materials or roofing supplies, since those details directly match what SRS branch managers screen for.
Which visa types does SRS Distribution commonly sponsor for Driver roles?
SRS Distribution has sponsored Driver roles through EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, as well as F-1 OPT and TN nonimmigrant status. EB-3 is the most common immigrant pathway for skilled trade and transportation roles. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying job classifications, and F-1 OPT allows recent graduates with work authorization to gain sponsored experience before transitioning to permanent residency.
What qualifications does SRS Distribution expect for sponsored Driver positions?
Most Driver openings at SRS require a valid CDL, a clean driving record, and a current DOT medical certificate. Experience delivering heavy building materials, operating flatbed or boom trucks, and navigating job site access points is frequently mentioned in their postings. Familiarity with route optimization and delivery documentation practices in a wholesale distribution environment strengthens your application considerably.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Driver role at SRS Distribution?
Timeline depends on the visa category. F-1 OPT authorization is typically already in place before you start, so the employer process is relatively fast. TN status can be obtained at a port of entry in a single visit for Canadian nationals. EB-3 sponsorship requires PERM labor certification through DOL, followed by an I-140 petition with USCIS, and then an adjustment of status or consular processing step, which collectively can span one to three years or more depending on your country of birth.
