Frame your credentials around industrial sales cycles
Airgas evaluates BD candidates on their ability to manage complex, relationship-driven sales in chemicals or materials. Document experience with long sales cycles, technical product knowledge, and territory management before you apply, not after you receive an offer.
Research Airgas territory gaps before outreach
Airgas organizes BD roles by geography and end-market vertical. Review their open roles for patterns in underserved regions or growing segments like specialty gases or safety products. Targeting a genuine coverage gap strengthens your case during screening.
Clarify sponsorship intent in your cover letter
Don't wait for a recruiter to raise the visa question. State your work authorization status and that you're seeking H-1B sponsorship upfront. BD hiring managers at industrial companies often have more flexibility than their HR teams initially signal.
Understand how H-1B specialty occupation applies to BD
H-1B eligibility requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. For BD positions, this typically means the employer must justify why a bachelor's degree in a specific field is required. Roles tied to chemicals or industrial engineering backgrounds are better positioned than purely generalist sales titles.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Airgas BD openings that fit your visa profile
Filter for New Business Development roles at Airgas by sponsorship type to prioritize positions already structured for H-1B or employment-based Green Card pathways. Migrate Mate surfaces these roles specifically for international job seekers, saving significant research time.
Build your timeline around USCIS H-1B cap deadlines
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. If Airgas extends an offer in late spring or summer, negotiate a start date for the following fiscal year and get the offer in writing before the March registration window.

Find New Business Development at Airgas JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Airgas sponsor H-1B visas for New Business Developments?
Yes, Airgas has sponsored H-1B visas for roles in its commercial and business development functions. Sponsorship for BD positions is more likely when the role is tied to a technical specialty, such as industrial gases for chemicals or materials applications, and when the candidate's degree field directly supports the position's requirements under USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I apply for New Business Development jobs at Airgas?
Applications go through Airgas's careers portal. For international candidates, Migrate Mate is a practical starting point to identify which open BD roles at Airgas are structured for visa sponsorship before applying directly. Tailor your resume to emphasize territory management, technical sales experience, and any background in industrial gases, chemicals, or manufacturing to align with their hiring criteria.
Which visa types does Airgas commonly use for New Business Development roles?
Airgas sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based Green Cards, including EB-2 and EB-3 categories, for qualifying roles. H-1B is the standard starting point for BD professionals entering the U.S. workforce. For longer-tenured employees, Airgas has supported the PERM labor certification process, which is the first step toward an employment-based Green Card through the DOL.
What qualifications does Airgas look for in New Business Development candidates?
Airgas typically expects a bachelor's degree in business, chemistry, engineering, or a related technical field for BD roles in the chemicals and materials space. Practical experience in industrial sales, customer acquisition, and knowledge of gas or chemical applications strengthens your profile. For H-1B purposes, the degree field should map clearly to the job duties, which is a specific USCIS requirement you should confirm with the hiring team before signing an offer.
How do I handle visa sponsorship timing when negotiating an offer at Airgas?
If you're subject to the H-1B cap, your employment start date can't be before October 1 of the fiscal year your petition is selected in. Communicate this clearly during the offer stage and ask Airgas whether they have experience managing delayed start dates. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a transfer petition through USCIS allows you to begin work at Airgas once the petition is filed and receipted, without waiting for approval.
