Target technical and scientific roles
Core Laboratories' sponsorship activity centers on highly specialized roles in reservoir analysis, geoscience, and petroleum engineering. Focus your application on positions that require niche technical expertise, where international candidates with advanced degrees are most competitive.
Understand the H-1B pathway here
H-1B is Core Laboratories' primary sponsorship vehicle. If you're pursuing this route, confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation in the energy or oilfield services space before applying, and be prepared to discuss how your degree directly supports the position.
Leverage OPT and CPT as an entry point
Core Laboratories sponsors F-1 OPT and CPT, which can serve as a foot in the door. Performing well during practical training significantly improves your chances of transitioning to H-1B sponsorship when the annual lottery cycle opens.
Canadian and Mexican nationals should explore TN
Core Laboratories also sponsors TN visas, which carry no lottery and process quickly. If you're a Canadian or Mexican national with qualifications in engineering, geology, or a related field, the TN pathway may be faster than waiting for H-1B selection.
Align your application with upstream energy operations
Core Laboratories operates at the intersection of laboratory science and oilfield services. Tailor your resume to highlight experience with core analysis, fluid characterization, or production data, the technical language signals fit to hiring managers reviewing visa-eligible candidates.
Find verified sponsorship opportunities efficiently
Sponsored roles at energy companies aren't always labeled clearly on general job boards. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your search on Core Laboratories openings confirmed to support visa applicants.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Core Laboratories sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Core Laboratories sponsors H-1B visas. Sponsorship is focused on specialized technical roles in areas like reservoir description, geoscience, and petroleum engineering, where a qualifying degree in a specific field is a genuine requirement. If your role and educational background meet the specialty occupation standard, Core Laboratories is a viable H-1B sponsor to target in the energy sector.
Which visa types does Core Laboratories sponsor?
Core Laboratories sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas. The H-1B is the primary long-term work authorization pathway. OPT and CPT are available for students and recent graduates looking to gain practical experience. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professions may also be eligible for TN sponsorship, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely.
What types of roles at Core Laboratories typically receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Core Laboratories tends to follow the company's core technical disciplines: reservoir analysis, core description, fluid properties research, and production enhancement. Roles requiring specialized degrees in geoscience, petroleum engineering, chemistry, or physics are the most likely candidates. General operations or administrative roles are far less likely to qualify for H-1B sponsorship given the specialty occupation standard.
What does the sponsorship process and timeline look like at Core Laboratories?
For H-1B sponsorship, the process typically begins well before the April lottery registration window. Core Laboratories would need to file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before submitting the H-1B petition to USCIS. If selected in the lottery with a standard October 1 start date, the full timeline from offer to authorized work status spans roughly six to eight months. TN sponsorship moves considerably faster, sometimes within days.
How do I find current visa-sponsored job openings at Core Laboratories?

Migrate Mate is built specifically for this, letting you browse openings at verified sponsors in the energy sector without having to guess which employers will actually support your visa. From there, apply directly through Core Laboratories' careers page and reference your visa requirements early in the process.
