Align your credentials to Deloitte's specialty occupation standard
Deloitte's H-1B filings for Payroll Consultants require the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. A degree in accounting, human resources information systems, or finance strengthens that case far more than a general business degree.
Target Deloitte's HCM and workforce transformation practice
Payroll Consultant roles at Deloitte are frequently embedded in Human Capital Management engagements using platforms like SAP, Workday, or Oracle. Positioning yourself around one of these systems narrows the field and signals you fit their active project pipeline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Deloitte's open Payroll Consultant postings
Deloitte posts roles across multiple business units and geographies simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter Payroll Consultant openings by visa type so you're applying only to postings where sponsorship is explicitly supported.
Understand how Deloitte's staffing model affects your H-1B timeline
Consulting firms like Deloitte typically staff roles on a project basis. If your start date doesn't align with USCIS's October 1 cap-subject H-1B activation, confirm whether the role qualifies for a cap-exempt filing through a client institution.
Clarify E-3 or H-1B1 eligibility before the offer stage
If you're an Australian or Chilean or Singaporean national, Deloitte can file an E-3 or H-1B1 without waiting for the H-1B lottery. Raising your nationality and preferred visa category during the recruiter screen avoids surprises late in the process.
Prepare payroll compliance documentation before final interviews
Deloitte's interview process for Payroll Consultants often includes technical assessments on multi-state payroll tax compliance and year-end reporting. Having documented project examples ready shortens the time between offer and the Labor Condition Application the employer files with DOL.

Does Deloitte sponsor H-1B visas for Payroll Consultants?
Yes, Deloitte sponsors H-1B visas for Payroll Consultants where the role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Because Deloitte operates as a large employer with an established immigration function, the sponsorship process is handled internally. Cap-subject H-1B sponsorship is subject to the annual lottery, so your application timing relative to the April registration window matters significantly.
How do I apply for Payroll Consultant jobs at Deloitte?
Applications go through Deloitte's careers portal, where roles are listed by service line and location. Because Deloitte posts across multiple practice areas simultaneously, roles with identical titles can have very different visa sponsorship support. Browsing through Migrate Mate lets you filter Payroll Consultant postings at Deloitte specifically by the visa types they support, saving time on roles where sponsorship isn't available.
Which visa types does Deloitte commonly use for Payroll Consultant roles?
Deloitte sponsors H-1B visas most commonly for Payroll Consultants, but it also files under H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals and E-3 for Australian nationals. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Deloitte supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, typically initiated after a period of employment through the PERM labor certification process with DOL.
What qualifications does Deloitte expect for sponsored Payroll Consultant roles?
Deloitte typically looks for a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience in enterprise payroll platforms such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or ADP. Client-facing consulting experience strengthens your profile considerably. For H-1B purposes, the degree field needs to align with the specific duties of the role, not just the job title.
How do I know if a Deloitte Payroll Consultant role will include Green Card sponsorship?
Deloitte supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for eligible employees, but the process typically begins after you've joined and demonstrated performance on client engagements. The PERM labor certification filed with DOL is the first formal step, and timelines from PERM filing to Green Card approval can span several years depending on your country of birth and priority date.
