TITLE: MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
JOB STATUS: FLSA EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Position Summary
To work in close harmony and under the direction of the Middle School Principal in assisting him/her in promoting the maximum development of each middle school student.
Job Qualifications
- Master's Degree in School Administration from an accredited College or University.
- Valid administrative certificate.
- Three years of successful teaching experience.
Essential Duties
Instructional Leadership:
- Serves on Graded Course of Study Committees.
- Provides instructional leadership by keeping current in instructional techniques and technology, and serves on the building technology team.
- Adheres to management team operating principles.
- Serves on Team Leader Council.
- Assist in evaluation of student academic performance and provides leadership to improve this performance.
Staff Personnel:
- Assists in screening, interviewing, and recommending employment and contractual status of staff.
- Assist in the evaluation and supervision of all personnel.
- Assists in building inservice.
- Helps prepare master schedule.
- Helps maintain high staff morale.
Curriculum Development:
- Assists in coordination and development of the curriculum.
- Works with the principal in implementing new programs into the curriculum.
- Evaluate effectiveness of program and curriculum instruction.
Pupil Personnel:
- Counsels and instructs students for behavioral change.
- Assists staff to develop appropriate responses to student behavior.
- Serves on the school's CORE team.
- Assists in planning and supervising fire drills and tornado drills.
Public Relations:
- Supports the school/community organizations.
- Develops and maintains positive communication with the community.
Resource Management:
- Assists in the efficient management of resources.
- Finance—Meets with teachers to evaluate textbook needs and orders. Works with the principal in developing building budget.
- Facilities—Assists in general supervision of building, grounds, and the maintenance of same. Coordinates the use of the building by school and non-school groups. Visits other school programs and attends educational conferences.
Other:
- Ensures the safety of students.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
- Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
- Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
