Align your degree to CHA's technical disciplines
CHA hires across civil, structural, environmental, and mechanical engineering. Before applying, confirm your degree field maps directly to your target role. A mismatch between your major and the job title weakens your OPT eligibility and raises flags during STEM extension reviews.
Confirm CHA's E-Verify enrollment before accepting
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Ask your CHA recruiter to confirm enrollment status early in the offer stage, not after you've signed. This single step determines whether you get two extra years of work authorization.
Target project-based roles in infrastructure consulting
CHA staffs heavily for project delivery roles in transportation, water, and energy sectors. These teams regularly bring on OPT students for technical analysis and design support. Applying to practice-area teams, rather than general openings, puts your resume in front of hiring managers who actually run OPT-eligible projects.
Use Migrate Mate to find CHA's active OPT roles
Search CHA Consulting on Migrate Mate to see which roles have active OPT hiring history filtered by employer. This helps you apply to openings with a real track record of hiring F-1 students, rather than guessing which job postings are actually OPT-accessible at CHA.
Start your OPT EAD application 90 days before graduation
USCIS recommends filing your OPT EAD application up to 90 days before your program end date. If your card isn't in hand before your start date, you can't begin working. Submit early and build in buffer time for any USCIS processing delays.
Negotiate your start date around your EAD receipt
CHA's onboarding process follows a standard project-staffing calendar. If your EAD arrival is delayed, your offer start date may need to shift. Communicate your OPT timeline directly with your recruiter and get any start-date flexibility confirmed in writing before your first day.
CHA Consulting, Inc. OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does CHA Consulting, Inc. sponsor OPT visas?
CHA Consulting doesn't sponsor OPT directly. OPT is work authorization issued by USCIS to eligible F-1 students. What CHA does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. If your OPT EAD is approved and your degree matches a qualifying role, you're eligible to work at CHA under your existing authorization.
Which departments at CHA Consulting typically hire OPT students?
CHA's engineering and environmental consulting practices are the most active areas for OPT hires. Teams focused on transportation, water resources, energy infrastructure, and structural engineering regularly bring on F-1 students in technical analyst and junior engineer roles. These positions tend to align well with STEM-designated degree fields, making them strong candidates for the 24-month STEM OPT extension.
How do I know if a CHA Consulting role qualifies for STEM OPT?
Check whether your degree field appears on the official STEM OPT designated degree list maintained by the Department of Homeland Security. Then verify the role's SOC code using O*NET to confirm it falls within a qualifying occupation. Your DSO can help you assess whether a specific CHA offer supports the STEM extension before you accept.
How do I find open OPT roles at CHA Consulting?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employer OPT hiring history, so you can see which CHA Consulting roles have a documented track record of hiring F-1 students. Searching by practice area, such as civil or environmental engineering, narrows results to the teams most likely to be actively recruiting on OPT timelines.
Does CHA Consulting support the transition from OPT to H-1B?
CHA sponsors H-1B visas for employees, which means OPT workers who perform well have a pathway to long-term sponsorship. The H-1B is a separate petition that CHA files with USCIS on your behalf, subject to the annual cap and lottery. Starting your OPT at CHA with the H-1B transition in mind means aligning your role, your degree, and your performance review timeline with the October 1 H-1B start date.
How does CHA Consulting, Inc. hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. CHA Consulting, Inc. can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check CHA Consulting, Inc.'s individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
