Target academic support roles first
Keiser University's strongest OPT hiring tends to cluster in academic advising, instructional design, and administrative coordination. Align your resume to show familiarity with student success systems or learning management platforms before applying to faculty-facing positions.
Verify your STEM OPT eligibility early
If your degree falls under a STEM-designated CIP code, confirm Keiser University is enrolled in E-Verify before accepting any offer. STEM OPT extension requires E-Verify participation, and that 24-month extension significantly changes your timeline for pursuing H-1B sponsorship.
Research Keiser University's H-1B filing history
Use Migrate Mate to review which job titles and departments Keiser University has previously sponsored for H-1B. Roles with an established sponsorship trail are far more likely to have an internal process already, reducing friction when your OPT period ends.
Frame your OPT timeline in every application
Hiring managers in higher education often don't track visa timelines. State your OPT EAD end date and, if STEM-eligible, your extension window in your cover letter. This removes ambiguity and helps Keiser University plan your onboarding around compliance needs.
Match your credentials to accreditation requirements
Keiser University operates under regional accreditation standards that shape minimum qualifications for instructional and professional roles. Cross-reference your degree and field against O*NET occupation profiles for your target role to confirm you meet the documented education requirements before applying.
Prepare your I-983 training plan before negotiating
For STEM OPT, USCIS requires a signed I-983 training plan between you and your employer. Draft a role-specific training plan before salary negotiations begin. Having it ready signals professionalism and accelerates the DSO reporting process at your school.
Keiser University OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Keiser University sponsor OPT visas?
Keiser University hires students who already hold an OPT EAD issued by USCIS. Employers don't sponsor or petition for OPT itself. What Keiser University does is hire OPT-authorized workers and, for STEM OPT extensions, maintain E-Verify enrollment, which is required for you to extend your work authorization by 24 months.
Which departments at Keiser University typically hire OPT students?
OPT hires at Keiser University tend to concentrate in academic advising, enrollment services, instructional technology, and administrative operations. These teams often have structured onboarding processes and a clearer path to H-1B sponsorship than adjunct or short-term instructional roles, which may not support long-term visa transitions.
How do I approach the OPT-to-H-1B transition at Keiser University?
Start the conversation about H-1B sponsorship before your OPT EAD expires, ideally during your first performance review. Keiser University's H-1B filing history shows it has sponsored employees in education-related roles. Use Migrate Mate to identify which job titles have been sponsored previously, so you can target departments with an established filing track record.
How do I confirm Keiser University is enrolled in E-Verify for STEM OPT?
Ask your hiring manager or HR contact directly before signing an offer letter. You can also search the E-Verify employer database maintained by DHS to confirm enrollment status. If Keiser University isn't enrolled, your DSO cannot authorize the 24-month STEM OPT extension, so verify this before accepting any position.
How do I time my job search at Keiser University around OPT windows?
Apply to Keiser University no later than 90 days before your OPT start date. USCIS allows pre-completion OPT and post-completion OPT, each with specific reporting deadlines. For STEM OPT, file the extension application at least 90 days before your initial OPT expires. Late filings risk a gap in work authorization that affects your employment status immediately.
How does Keiser University hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Keiser University can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Keiser University's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
