Align your degree to clinical roles
SpecialtyCare operates in highly specialized healthcare services, so your OPT EAD carries more weight when your degree field directly maps to clinical operations, health sciences, or business. Pull the relevant O*NET occupation profile before applying to confirm your degree qualifies.
Verify E-Verify enrollment before accepting
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Before you accept an offer from SpecialtyCare, confirm their enrollment status directly with HR so your extension timeline isn't disrupted after you've already started.
Target roles with H-1B conversion history
SpecialtyCare sponsors H-1B visas, which means some OPT roles have a documented path beyond the initial work authorization window. Use Migrate Mate to filter SpecialtyCare's LCA filing history by job title so you're targeting positions with a real transition track record.
Request your offer letter before your OPT start date
Your DSO needs the offer letter to update your I-20 and authorize OPT through USCIS. At SpecialtyCare, HR timelines in consulting can run longer than expected, so request the formal offer at least three weeks before you need to submit your OPT application.
Negotiate start dates around USCIS processing
USCIS recommends filing your OPT application up to 90 days before your program end date, but processing takes up to five months. Coordinate your proposed SpecialtyCare start date with your DSO early so your EAD arrives before your first scheduled workday.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC wage data
When evaluating a SpecialtyCare offer, cross-reference the salary against OFLC Wage Search for your job title and location. Offers near the prevailing wage floor for your role strengthen the case for a future H-1B petition and signal the employer's sponsorship seriousness.
SpecialtyCare OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does SpecialtyCare sponsor OPT visas?
SpecialtyCare doesn't sponsor OPT directly, because OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to eligible F-1 students, not something employers petition for. What SpecialtyCare does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD. For STEM OPT extensions, the company must be enrolled in E-Verify, which you should confirm with their HR team before accepting an offer.
Which roles at SpecialtyCare are most likely to hire OPT students?
SpecialtyCare's core business is clinical and operational consulting in healthcare settings, so OPT students with backgrounds in health sciences, business administration, or operations management tend to be the strongest fit. Roles supporting surgical services, quality improvement, and healthcare consulting align most closely with the company's service lines and have historically seen H-1B sponsorship follow OPT employment.
How do I approach the OPT-to-H-1B transition at SpecialtyCare?
Start the conversation about H-1B sponsorship during the offer negotiation stage, not after you've started. SpecialtyCare has sponsored H-1B visas, so the pathway exists, but it requires your employer to file before the April 1 registration deadline. Use Migrate Mate to review SpecialtyCare's LCA filing history by job title so you know which roles have the strongest transition precedent before committing.
What is the typical timeline for getting hired at SpecialtyCare on OPT?
USCIS recommends submitting your OPT application up to 90 days before your program end date, with processing taking up to five months. Factor that into your SpecialtyCare job search timeline so your EAD is in hand before your intended start date. SpecialtyCare's consulting hiring cycles can involve multiple interview rounds, so beginning your search at least four to five months before graduation is practical.
Does SpecialtyCare need to do anything for my STEM OPT extension?
Yes. For a 24-month STEM OPT extension, USCIS requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify and to sign a formal training plan with you. Confirm SpecialtyCare's E-Verify status with HR before your initial OPT period ends, and work with your DSO to file the extension application at least 90 days before your current EAD expires to avoid any gap in work authorization.
How does SpecialtyCare hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. SpecialtyCare can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check SpecialtyCare's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
