Who We Are
Flagship Pioneering is a biotechnology company that invents and builds platform companies that change the world. We bring together the greatest scientific minds with entrepreneurial company builders and assemble the capital to allow them to take courageous leaps. Those big leaps in human health and sustainability exponentially accelerate scientific progress in areas ranging from cancer detection and treatment to nature-positive agriculture. What sets Flagship apart is our ability to advance biotechnology by uniting life science innovation, company creation, and capital investment under one roof in a way that is largely without precedent. Our scientific founders, entrepreneurial leaders, and professional capital managers are each aligned around an institutionalized process that enables us to innovate and transform for the benefit of people and planet. Many of the companies Flagship has founded have addressed humanity’s most urgent challenges: vaccinating billions of people against COVID-19, curing intractable diseases, improving human health, preempting illness, and feeding the world by improving the resiliency and sustainability of agriculture. Flagship has been recognized twice on FORTUNE’s “Change the World” list, an annual ranking of companies that have made a positive social and environmental impact through activities that are part of their core business strategies, and has been twice named to Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies.

Target roles at the intersection of science and investment
Flagship sits between deep biotech R&D and venture capital strategy. Sponsored roles tend to require strong scientific credentials paired with business acumen. Focus your application on positions where those two skill sets overlap most clearly.
Lead with your H-1B eligibility early in the process
Flagship sponsors H-1B visas, but hiring teams at investment and innovation firms move quickly. Flagging your visa status and specialty occupation qualifications upfront helps hiring managers assess fit without delays late in the process.
Understand the specialty occupation standard for your role
H-1B sponsorship at firms like Flagship requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Roles in biotech venture creation, scientific operations, and portfolio company strategy typically meet this bar when tied to an advanced degree field.
Position yourself for long-term immigration support including Green Cards
Flagship has sponsored both H-1B and Green Card pathways. If permanent residency matters to you, ask during the offer stage about the firm's track record supporting EB-2 or EB-3 filings for long-term hires.
Use Migrate Mate to identify verified sponsorship history before applying
Flagship is a selective sponsor, so confirming real visa activity before investing time in your application matters. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by actual sponsorship history and apply with confidence.
Tailor your application to Flagship's venture creation model
Flagship doesn't operate like a traditional investment firm or a standard biotech employer. Highlighting experience with company formation, early-stage science commercialization, or platform biology research will resonate far more than generic finance or lab experience.
