A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.
Google Data Centers (GDC) maintains one of the world's most powerful computing infrastructures. To remain at the forefront of technical innovation, Google continually modernizes its fleet using an exceptional Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program. As a member of the Compliance, Security and Risk Management (CSRM) Construction EHS team, you will support the EHS construction and MARCUS retrofit programs, playing a critical role by collaborating with cross-functional teams and contractors to protect Google’s interests. This position is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of EHS initiatives across a defined area.

Your responsibilities include engaging in vendor pre-qualification, communicating EHS expectations, and overseeing program implementation with a focus on risk mitigation and on-time delivery. You will establish performance metrics and implement best practices, including lessons learned, to ensure the organization scales efficiently. By reporting regularly to stakeholders, you bridge the gap between high-level strategy and site-level safety to ensure Google’s infrastructure evolves securely and sustainably.

- Drive an exceptional culture that embraces a continuous learning approach and aligns with organizational strategies including goals and objectives.
- Liaise with the wider Construction and Data Center Operations (DCOps) EHS teams to ensure best practices are fully and completely implemented, progress reported, trends and data captured, analyzed and risks mitigated to an acceptable level ensuring that the operational capacity of a live data center is not compromised.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in program or project management.
- Experience with construction environmental health and safety.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Safety Professional certificate or other applicable EHS certifications.
- 10 years of experience in EHS construction and subcontractor management.

Frame your compliance credentials around U.S. regulatory frameworks
Google's compliance teams work across GDPR, CCPA, SOX, and export controls. Before applying, map your existing experience explicitly to U.S. regulatory frameworks in your resume so hiring managers can connect your background to their specific program needs.
Target Google's Trust and Safety compliance pipeline
Google fills many Compliance Program Manager roles through its Trust, Safety, and Legal Operations orgs. Roles posted under these verticals tend to have clearer sponsorship pathways, so filter your search by those teams when browsing open positions.
Get your LCA timing right before accepting
Google must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. Confirm with your recruiter whether your start date accounts for LCA certification and USCIS processing time, especially if you're changing status from F-1 OPT.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Google's sponsored compliance openings
Compliance Program Manager roles with confirmed visa sponsorship at Google aren't always labeled clearly on general job boards. Migrate Mate filters specifically for sponsored positions, so you're not wasting applications on roles that won't support your visa.
Clarify E-3 eligibility with your Google recruiter early
Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 pathway, which has no lottery and renews in two-year increments. If you hold an Australian passport, raise this with your recruiter before the offer stage so the LCA is prepared for the correct visa classification.
Build a compliance portfolio that demonstrates program ownership
Google's job postings for this role consistently require evidence of end-to-end program management, not just policy knowledge. Document specific programs you've built, audits you've led, and cross-functional stakeholders you've aligned, as this is what moves candidates through Google's structured hiring loops.

Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Compliance Program Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Compliance Program Manager roles. This function is treated as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a related field such as law, business, or information systems. Google's legal and HR teams manage the sponsorship process internally, and sponsorship is typically discussed during the offer stage after you've cleared the hiring loop.
Which visa types does Google use for Compliance Program Manager roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Compliance Program Manager positions. H-1B is the most common pathway for candidates from most countries and requires winning the annual USCIS lottery. H-1B1 is available to nationals of Chile and Singapore. E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and has no lottery, making it a more predictable option if you hold an Australian passport.
How do I apply for Compliance Program Manager jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Roles are often posted under Legal Operations, Trust and Safety, or Compliance functions. Tailoring your resume to reference the specific regulatory frameworks mentioned in each job description significantly improves your chances of passing the initial screen. You can also use Migrate Mate to find Compliance Program Manager openings at Google that are confirmed to include visa sponsorship, saving time filtering through roles that don't.
What qualifications does Google expect for Compliance Program Manager candidates?
Most Compliance Program Manager roles at Google require a bachelor's degree in law, business, finance, or a related technical field, along with several years of experience managing compliance programs at scale. Familiarity with at least one major regulatory framework, such as SOX, GDPR, or export controls, is expected. Program management certifications and experience working within cross-functional tech environments strengthen your profile significantly.
How do I understand the H-1B timeline if I'm targeting a Compliance Program Manager role at Google?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. If selected in the lottery, Google files your full petition between April and June. If you're on F-1 OPT, you can begin working October 1 under cap-gap rules if your OPT expires before then. Plan your job search to have an offer in hand before the March registration window, as missing it means waiting another full year.
