Focus on roles that align with HED's sponsorship history
HED has sponsored visas for specialized positions rather than broad retail roles. Target applications toward technical, analytical, or corporate functions where degree-specific skills are harder to source domestically, these are the roles most likely to receive H-1B support.
Use your F-1 OPT period strategically
HED has sponsored F-1 OPT candidates, making it a viable target while you're on OPT. Apply early in your OPT window to give HED time to assess your fit and begin H-1B sponsorship planning before your authorization expires.
Lead with your specialized qualifications in your application
Retail employers sponsor visas when they can't find qualified local candidates. Emphasize the specific technical or analytical skills that differentiate you, this directly addresses the justification HED would need to pursue sponsorship on your behalf.
Research HED's corporate and operations hiring activity
Sponsorship in retail tends to concentrate in corporate support functions like merchandising, supply chain, finance, and technology. Prioritize these departments when targeting open roles at HED rather than store-level positions, which rarely involve sponsorship.
Confirm sponsorship willingness early in the process
HED sponsors a selective number of visas, so it's worth raising your visa needs during initial recruiter conversations rather than late-stage interviews. This avoids investing time in a process where sponsorship was never on the table for that specific role.
Find HED openings through a platform built for sponsored roles
Generic job boards don't filter by real sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by actual sponsorship track record, helping you confirm HED is actively hiring before you spend time applying.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does HED sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, HED does sponsor H-1B visas. Sponsorship tends to be selective and concentrated in roles requiring specialized qualifications, typically corporate or technical positions rather than general retail roles. If you're targeting HED for H-1B sponsorship, focus your application on departments where degree-specific expertise is central to the job.
What visa types does HED sponsor?
HED sponsors H-1B visas and supports F-1 OPT candidates, and has also worked with TN visa holders. This mix suggests the company is open to multiple international hiring pathways, though the volume remains focused and role-dependent. Checking current openings is the best way to gauge active sponsorship intent for a specific position.
Which roles or departments at HED are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
In retail companies like HED, visa sponsorship is most common in corporate functions, areas like data analytics, supply chain, finance, technology, and merchandising strategy. Store-level and hourly roles almost never involve sponsorship. When applying, prioritize positions that explicitly require a bachelor's degree or specialized technical background.
How do I find open jobs at HED that are open to visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find HED roles with confirmed sponsorship history. Unlike general job boards, Migrate Mate filters positions by verified visa sponsorship data, so you can identify HED openings where sponsorship is a realistic possibility rather than guessing based on job descriptions alone.
How do I approach the application timeline when targeting HED for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date, so your hiring timeline needs to account for that window. Aim to have an offer in hand by February or March at the latest. If you're on OPT, confirm early whether HED can begin sponsorship planning in time, delays past the filing deadline mean waiting a full year for the next cap season.
