Target corporate and technology roles first
Nordstrom's sponsorship activity is concentrated in corporate functions like technology, finance, merchandising, and supply chain, not store-level retail. Focus your search on Seattle-based or remote corporate positions where visa sponsorship is far more common.
Understand which visa types Nordstrom uses
Nordstrom sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT, as well as permanent residence pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. Knowing this upfront lets you assess your eligibility before applying and frame your situation clearly in conversations with recruiters.
Engage Nordstrom's campus recruiting pipeline if you're on OPT
Nordstrom runs structured internship and rotational programs that frequently lead to full-time OPT sponsorship. If you're finishing a degree, targeting Nordstrom's internship pipeline is a more predictable path to sponsorship than applying cold to full-time roles.
Highlight skills tied to Nordstrom's tech and digital investments
Nordstrom has invested heavily in e-commerce, data, and supply chain technology. Applicants with backgrounds in software engineering, data analytics, or digital merchandising align directly with where the company sponsors most actively, make that connection explicit in your application.
Search for verified sponsorship history before applying
Not every Nordstrom role leads to sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and identify which Nordstrom job types have actually resulted in visa filings, saving you from applying to roles that won't move forward.
Be prepared to discuss your visa timeline with the recruiter early
Nordstrom's HR teams are experienced with sponsorship processes, particularly for H-1B and Green Card pathways. Raising your visa status early in the recruiter conversation signals professionalism and helps both sides assess fit before investing further in the process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Nordstrom sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Nordstrom sponsors H-1B visas. The company has a consistent track record of H-1B filings, primarily for corporate and technology roles based at its Seattle headquarters. Sponsorship tends to go to positions requiring specialized skills in areas like software engineering, data science, finance, and merchandising operations, not store-level or hourly positions.
What visa types does Nordstrom sponsor?
Nordstrom sponsors a range of visa types including H-1B, TN visa, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for temporary work authorization, as well as EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for permanent residence. The Green Card sponsorship volume is notably strong, indicating that Nordstrom actively supports employees through the full immigration journey, not just initial work authorization.
Which departments or roles at Nordstrom are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Nordstrom is most common in technology, engineering, data and analytics, finance, and corporate merchandising roles. These are typically based at the company's Seattle headquarters or in remote-eligible positions. Retail store associates, stylists, and hourly workers are generally not eligible for employer-sponsored visas, so applicants should focus their search on corporate and professional-level openings.
How do I find Nordstrom jobs that are open to visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to filter for Nordstrom on Migrate Mate, which surfaces job listings from verified sponsoring employers based on actual filing history. This helps you avoid applying to roles where sponsorship is unlikely. Once you identify relevant openings, confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter in your first conversation, Nordstrom's recruiting team is generally familiar with the process.
How do I approach the application timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship at Nordstrom?
The H-1B cap runs on a federal fiscal year, with the lottery typically opening in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, you'll want to target Nordstrom roles that give enough lead time for H-1B filing. Start the recruiting process at least six months before your OPT expiration. Nordstrom's experience with H-1B sponsorship means recruiters can generally walk you through timing expectations once you're in the pipeline.
