Tips for Finding Program Manager Jobs at Nordstrom
Frame your PM credentials around retail operations
Nordstrom's Program Manager roles span supply chain, e-commerce, and store technology. Tailor your resume to show cross-functional program delivery in retail or consumer-facing environments, not just generic project management. Certifications like PMP carry weight in their hiring process.
Confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying
Nordstrom sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT candidates for Program Manager roles, but eligibility depends on your current status and timing. If you're on OPT, verify your STEM extension window aligns with when an H-1B cap-subject petition could be filed.
Target Nordstrom's technology and supply chain divisions
Program Manager openings in Nordstrom's tech and fulfillment teams are the most consistent sources of visa-sponsored roles. Searching by department, not just job title, surfaces positions that explicitly budget for sponsorship rather than treating it as an afterthought.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsorship roles
Not every Nordstrom Program Manager listing will state sponsorship upfront. Use Migrate Mate to browse open roles verified against Nordstrom's actual sponsorship history, so you spend your application effort on positions where sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
Ask about LCA filing timelines during the offer stage
Before accepting an offer, ask HR when they plan to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL. For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the LCA must be certified before USCIS submission, and retail hiring cycles sometimes underestimate the lead time required.
Align your start date to USCIS processing realities
If you're starting in H-1B cap status, your employment cannot begin before October 1 of the fiscal year in which you were selected. Negotiate a start date with Nordstrom's HR team that accounts for this window to avoid gaps in your authorization.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Nordstrom sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, Nordstrom sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles, particularly in technology, supply chain, and retail operations. The company works with immigration counsel to manage the full petition process, including the Labor Condition Application filed with DOL. Sponsorship is most consistently available for roles with a clear specialty occupation basis, which Program Manager positions in tech and logistics typically satisfy.
Which visa types does Nordstrom commonly use for Program Manager roles?
Nordstrom sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for Program Managers. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates entering the role, while H-1B is the primary long-term path. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose role and credentials meet the qualifying occupation criteria under USMCA.
What qualifications does Nordstrom expect for a Program Manager role?
Nordstrom's Program Manager roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, engineering, computer science, or supply chain management. Several years of cross-functional program or project delivery experience are expected, and PMP certification strengthens your application. Roles within Nordstrom's technology division often weight technical fluency alongside stakeholder management skills.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at Nordstrom?
Applications go through Nordstrom's careers portal, but not every listing discloses sponsorship availability upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces Nordstrom Program Manager openings verified against the company's sponsorship history, making it easier to identify which roles are realistically open to visa-sponsored candidates. Once you identify a role, apply directly through Nordstrom's site and flag your sponsorship needs early in the recruiter screening call.
How do I handle timing if I'm on OPT and targeting a Nordstrom Program Manager role?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm whether your degree qualifies for a 24-month STEM OPT extension, which gives you up to three years of work authorization. This window must overlap with an H-1B cap registration period, typically opening in March for an October 1 start. Coordinate with Nordstrom's HR team early so they can submit your USCIS petition before your OPT expires.
