Tailor your resume to Google's PM framework
Google evaluates Program Managers on cross-functional leadership, data-driven decision-making, and operational scale. Frame past projects using measurable outcomes and highlight experience coordinating across engineering, product, and go-to-market teams, since that mirrors how Google structures PM work internally.
Target teams with recurring PM openings
Google's Cloud, Platforms, and Devices divisions post Program Manager roles most consistently. Focusing your applications on these org areas, rather than applying broadly, increases your odds of landing a team that has an established sponsorship pipeline and active headcount.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
H-1B1 and E-3 visas move faster than cap-subject H-1B petitions and don't require lottery selection. If you're Australian or Chilean or Singaporean, confirm your eligibility early so Google's immigration team can route your petition correctly from the start.
Understand Google's LCA filing process
Google files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before any H-1B petition can proceed. The LCA must reflect the actual work location, so if your role is hybrid or you'll be based at a site other than the primary office, flag this to your recruiter early to avoid delays.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Program Manager openings
Not every job listing specifies visa sponsorship upfront. Use Migrate Mate to browse Program Manager roles at Google that are confirmed to support work visa sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on positions that exclude international candidates.
Account for the H-1B cap timeline in your planning
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS only accepts registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility and how much runway you have, since Google's offer process can take several months from first interview to signed offer.

Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. The company has one of the most active employer sponsorship programs in the technology sector and works with in-house immigration counsel to manage petitions. If you're selected through the H-1B lottery and receive an offer, Google's team handles the USCIS filing process on your behalf.
Which visa types does Google use for Program Manager roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Program Manager positions. H-1B1 is available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, while the E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens. Both the H-1B1 and E-3 bypass the H-1B lottery, which can significantly shorten the timeline from offer to start date for eligible candidates.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Program Manager roles are organized by product area, so filtering by team or function helps narrow the search. You can also browse confirmed visa-sponsoring PM openings at Google on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles that actively support international candidates, before applying directly through Google's site.
What qualifications does Google expect for Program Manager roles?
Google's Program Manager roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field, though many postings prefer candidates with an MBA or engineering background. Beyond credentials, Google places significant weight on demonstrated experience managing complex cross-functional programs, using data to drive decisions, and leading without direct authority across large, matrixed organizations.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship at Google?
The timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 and H-1B1 holders can often start within four to eight weeks of an offer, since these don't require lottery selection. Cap-subject H-1B candidates face a March registration window and an October 1 start date at the earliest. Building that calendar awareness into your job search, especially if you're on OPT with an approaching expiration, is critical.
