At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.
Lyft Infrastructure builds the systems engineers depend on to ship stable, scalable, and efficient services. We're hiring a Senior Technical Program Manager to run cross-functional programs across our infrastructure and data platform teams. This role blends program delivery with product sense: you'll own the roadmap for your area, set priorities, and act as the voice of the customer back into how we build.
Responsibilities
- Run infrastructure programs end to end, from kickoff through delivery
- Own the roadmap for your platform area: shape the strategy, sequence the work, and make the prioritization calls
- Drive data platform migration and modernization work, coordinating across engineering, data, and platform teams to keep dependencies and timelines under control
- Be the voice of the customer: partner with engineering teams across Lyft, surface their pain points, and feed that back into priorities and roadmaps
- Define success metrics and adoption goals, gather and document customer requirements, and make sure what ships actually solves the problem
- Build feedback loops with customer teams and turn what you hear into concrete improvements
- Partner with engineering and infrastructure leads to build plans, call out risks early, and keep stakeholders aligned
- Own program health: track milestones, surface blockers before they slip, and keep decision-makers in the loop
- Use your technical background in distributed systems and data infrastructure to ask sharp questions and build plans the team believes in
- Share in the team's release oncall rotation
Experience
- 5+ years in Technical Program Management or a TPM/PM hybrid role
- A background in software, data, or systems engineering, enough to go deep with engineers
- Experience owning a roadmap: setting strategy, prioritizing across competing demands, and defining what success looks like
- Experience driving data platform or infrastructure migrations: data lakes, pipelines, warehouses, or compute platforms
- Hands-on familiarity with Databricks, Hex, or similar data platform and BI tooling is a strong plus
- A strong track record leading cross-functional programs with real dependencies and tight timelines, autonomously and with only high-level direction
- Experience owning customer relationships across engineering teams, gathering requirements, and translating their needs into roadmaps and technical specs
- Comfortable defining and tracking success metrics and adoption
- Clear communicator across the stack, from engineer to VP
Benefits:
- Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolled
- Mental health benefits
- Family building benefits

Frame your PM credentials around operations
Lyft's Program Manager roles frequently sit at the intersection of driver experience, marketplace ops, and product delivery. Tailor your resume to show cross-functional program ownership and measurable outcomes, not just project coordination titles.
Target teams with international hiring patterns
Lyft's driver platform, safety, and marketplace teams have historically filed LCAs for Program Manager roles. Prioritizing open roles on those teams improves your odds of landing with a hiring manager familiar with sponsorship workflows.
Time your OPT application to avoid the H-1B gap
If you're on F-1 OPT and targeting Lyft, ensure your OPT start date leaves enough runway to apply for H-1B in March before your authorization expires. The 60-day grace period does not extend this window.
Clarify sponsorship scope before accepting an offer
Some companies sponsor H-1B transfers but won't initiate PERM for Green Card. Ask Lyft's recruiter early whether the role supports both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa pathways, so there are no surprises after you sign.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Lyft PM openings
Program Manager roles at Lyft appear and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to surface active listings filtered by visa type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed, not just assumed from past filings.
Prepare for a DOL prevailing wage review on your LCA
Lyft must certify with DOL that your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for your Program Manager role and work location. If your offer is in a high-cost market like San Francisco, verify the wage level matches your experience tier before the LCA is filed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lyft sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, Lyft sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. The company has a consistent history of filing H-1B petitions for this function, including both new cap-subject petitions and transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status. Your offer letter and role level will determine whether Lyft also initiates Green Card sponsorship through the PERM process.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at Lyft?
Applications go through Lyft's careers portal at lyft.com/careers. Search for Program Manager roles and filter by team or location. If you need visa sponsorship, confirm the role is eligible before applying. Migrate Mate aggregates active Lyft Program Manager openings filtered by visa type, which can save significant time identifying the right opportunities.
Which visa types does Lyft commonly sponsor for Program Manager roles?
Lyft sponsors H-1B, E-3 visa, TN visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Program Manager positions, and supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for employees in this function. E-3 visa is available to Australian citizens, and TN visa applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible occupational categories. The specific pathway depends on your nationality and current immigration status.
What qualifications does Lyft expect for Program Manager roles?
Lyft's Program Manager roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, engineering, or computer science, combined with demonstrated experience leading cross-functional programs in a technology or operations environment. Senior roles often expect experience managing ambiguous, large-scale initiatives. For H-1B eligibility, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field.
How do I think about timing the sponsorship process at Lyft?
If you're pursuing an H-1B, Lyft must file your petition during the April cap season for an October 1 start date. Build that timeline into your negotiations. If you're transferring an existing H-1B to Lyft, work can begin once USCIS receives the petition under portability rules. For OPT extensions or E-3 applications, processing times at the consulate or with USCIS can run four to eight weeks, so plan accordingly.
