Frame your PM portfolio around platform products
Lyft's PM interviews weight product sense heavily toward two-sided marketplace problems. Build case studies around driver supply, pricing systems, or safety features before your first screen, not after you get an offer.
Confirm LCA filings before accepting any offer
Before signing, ask your recruiter whether the role is H-1B cap-subject or cap-exempt. Lyft files Labor Condition Applications through DOL, and the certified LCA must name the specific worksite, so confirm the location matches your intended work arrangement.
Target teams hiring for your specific visa category
Lyft sponsors multiple visa types for Product Managers. If you're on F-1 OPT, identify teams with active headcount well before your OPT expiration, since an H-1B cap filing requires the October 1 start date to align with your authorized stay.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
Lyft posts Product Manager roles across several functions simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to surface only the positions confirmed to sponsor your specific visa category, so you're not spending prep time on roles that won't support your status.
Negotiate Green Card sponsorship timing before day one
Lyft has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 pathways for Product Managers. PERM labor certification timelines run long, so ask during offer negotiation at what seniority level the company initiates the process, not after you've already started.
Prepare for structured PM interviews with product metrics focus
Lyft's PM hiring panels typically include a data exercise alongside product design questions. Practice defining success metrics for marketplace features, since interviewers assess whether you can connect product decisions to measurable business outcomes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lyft sponsor H-1B visas for Product Managers?
Yes, Lyft sponsors H-1B visas for Product Manager roles. The process involves Lyft filing a Labor Condition Application with DOL and then submitting an H-1B petition to USCIS on your behalf. If you're subject to the annual cap, your start date must align with the October 1 fiscal year start. Raise sponsorship eligibility early in the interview process to confirm the specific role qualifies.
How do I apply for Product Manager jobs at Lyft?
Applications go through Lyft's careers site, where PM roles are listed by team and seniority. You can also browse verified open Product Manager positions at Lyft filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify roles that actively support your specific immigration status before investing time in the application process.
Which visa types does Lyft commonly sponsor for Product Manager roles?
Lyft sponsors several visa categories for Product Managers, including H-1B, E-3 visa (for Australian citizens), TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), J-1 visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students. For longer-term pathways, Lyft has also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship. The available types can vary by role level and team, so confirm which categories apply during the offer stage.
What qualifications does Lyft expect for Product Manager roles?
Lyft typically looks for Product Managers with experience owning a product end-to-end, comfort working with engineering and data teams, and the ability to define and track metrics. For mid-level and senior roles, prior experience in marketplace, mobility, or platform products is valued. Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous product problems and communicate clearly to cross-functional stakeholders is consistently weighted heavily in interviews.
How do I time my application around visa deadlines?
If you're on F-1 OPT, target Lyft's hiring cycles well before your work authorization expires, since cap-subject H-1B filings must be submitted in March for an October 1 start. For TN or E-3 holders, Lyft can initiate a transfer relatively quickly. For those seeking EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, USCIS and PERM processing can take years, so ask about Green Card timelines at the offer stage.
