Description
Chief Medical Officer – Veterinary Medicine & Clinical Excellence
Shape the future of veterinary medicine without losing sight of the people practicing it.
At Innovetive Petcare, we believe the best veterinary organizations are built by supporting great doctors, developing great leaders, embracing innovation, and giving hospitals the tools they need to thrive—without losing what makes each practice unique.
We are seeking a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) who shares that philosophy and wants the opportunity to make a visible, meaningful impact. We are large enough to provide meaningful resources, investment, technology, and development opportunities—but still at a scale where our CMO can know our doctors, understand our hospitals, and personally influence the direction of the organization.
We believe growth should be responsible and intentional. Our goal is not to acquire practices as quickly as possible. Success for us is growing thoughtfully while taking great care of the hospitals already entrusted to us, the clients and pets they serve, and the team members who make that care possible.
For the right veterinary leader, that creates an uncommon opportunity: the ability to genuinely shape what comes next.
The Opportunity
As our senior veterinary leader, the CMO will advance medical excellence, veterinarian engagement, leadership development, technology adoption, and the long-term strength of our veterinary community.
We strongly believe in preserving the medical autonomy of our hospitals. The CMO is not here to dictate medicine or impose a single way of practicing. Instead, you will build relationships, share expertise, develop leaders, introduce new ideas, and help our doctors and hospitals become even stronger.
Success requires both credibility as a veterinarian and influence as a leader. We are looking for someone who sees potential in people and is passionate about creating meaningful career growth for veterinarians. You will help doctors build on their strengths, develop new skills, explore leadership opportunities, and envision what’s next in their careers. Along the way, you’ll identify and develop future Medical Directors and veterinary leaders—building a strong leadership bench by investing in the growth of our doctors.
This is about more than filling future openings. It is about building a stronger veterinary leadership community. We are looking for a CMO who is genuinely energized by technology and curious about where veterinary medicine is going.
From AI and clinical documentation to diagnostics, communication platforms, practice management technology, and workflow automation, you'll explore how emerging technologies can improve the veterinarian, team, and client experience.
More importantly, you'll help others see the possibilities—translating technology into practical solutions for real clinical and operational challenges and bringing others along as veterinary medicine evolves. Relationships are central to this role. You'll maintain a visible presence across Innovetive hospitals, spending time in practices, listening to doctors, understanding local dynamics, and remaining connected to clinical practice.
You'll be a trusted resource when hospitals encounter difficult medical, leadership, regulatory, or operational challenges and a partner to veterinarians, Medical Directors, Practice Managers, and operational leaders.
As a member of Innovetive's senior leadership team, you'll bring the veterinary perspective into organizational decision-making—partnering across functions and contributing to strategy, investments, acquisitions, technology, and growth.
Who We're Looking For
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree and active veterinary license in good standing.
- 10+ years of veterinary clinical experience.
- Multi-site leadership experience.
- Previous experience as a Practice Owner, Medical Director, Regional Medical Director, or other senior veterinary leader.
- Demonstrated success assessing, mentoring, and developing veterinarians and veterinary leaders.
- Strong understanding of veterinary operations, staffing, financial performance, and hospital leadership.
- Genuine enthusiasm for technology, innovation, and advancing how veterinary medicine is practiced.
- Exceptional communication, coaching, relationship-building, and change-leadership skills.
- Location: Austin, TX preferred. At a minimum must live near a major airport within our hospital regions, such as Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte or Miami.
What Success Looks Like
We will know our CMO is successful when our veterinarians trust their medical leadership, our Medical Directors are stronger, our leadership bench continues to deepen, useful technologies are embraced rather than merely implemented, and our hospitals feel both supported by Innovetive and empowered to succeed.
If you are energized by the opportunity to develop veterinary leaders, champion innovation, influence the future of a growing organization, and remain personally connected to the doctors doing the work every day, we'd love to meet you.
Compensation
This is an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of veterinary medicine while being rewarded for your leadership and contributions. Our Chief Medical Officer compensation package is designed to recognize the scope and impact of this executive leadership role and includes:
- Competitive compensation
- Sign-on bonus to support your transition into the role
- Relocation assistance available, if needed
- Annual performance bonus tied to organizational and individual impact
- Equity opportunity, providing the potential to share in the long-term growth and success of the organization
If you're an experienced veterinarian, veterinary medical leader, or veterinary executive ready to influence clinical excellence at a national level, this is an opportunity to pair meaningful professional impact with a highly competitive total rewards package.

Target roles that align with EB-2 or EB-3 requirements
Innovetive Petcare sponsors permanent residency through employment-based Green Card categories. Focus your application on professional or skilled roles in veterinary, clinical, or animal care operations where degree qualifications and specialized experience are explicitly required.
Understand that Green Card sponsorship is a long-term commitment
Innovetive Petcare's sponsorship history centers on permanent residency, not temporary work visas. Be prepared to discuss your long-term career goals in the animal care industry, employers sponsoring Green Cards want candidates committed to staying.
Highlight technical credentials in animal health or veterinary sciences
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship in the pet care sector typically goes to candidates with formal qualifications. Emphasize licensed veterinary credentials, specialized clinical training, or advanced degrees in animal science to strengthen your candidacy.
Ask about sponsorship eligibility early in the hiring process
Innovetive Petcare sponsors selectively, so it's worth confirming sponsorship availability before investing heavily in the interview process. Raise it professionally during the recruiter screening stage, framing it as part of your long-term commitment to the role.
Search for open roles through a platform that tracks real sponsorship history
Not all pet care employers sponsor visas, which makes filtering by verified track record essential. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your efforts on Innovetive Petcare and similar companies.
Factor in PERM labor certification timelines when planning your move
Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 requires PERM labor certification before the petition stage, a process that can add significant time to your overall timeline. Start conversations with Innovetive Petcare's hiring team well before your current status expires.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Innovetive Petcare sponsor H-1B visas?
Based on available sponsorship data, Innovetive Petcare does not have a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas. Their sponsorship activity is focused on permanent residency through employment-based Green Card categories. If you currently hold H-1B status and are seeking a new employer, this is an important factor to clarify directly with their hiring team before applying.
What visa types does Innovetive Petcare sponsor?
Innovetive Petcare sponsors employment-based Green Cards, specifically through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. EB-2 covers professionals with advanced degrees or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers skilled workers and professionals. Both pathways require PERM labor certification, which the employer initiates on your behalf after an offer is made.
Which roles at Innovetive Petcare are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Innovetive Petcare tends to be reserved for specialized professional roles within animal care and veterinary services, positions where the company cannot easily find a qualified U.S. worker. Licensed veterinarians, veterinary technicians with advanced credentials, and clinical or operations specialists in the pet care space are the most likely candidates for sponsored roles.
How do I find open sponsored jobs at Innovetive Petcare?
The most reliable way to find roles at Innovetive Petcare that come with sponsorship is to use Migrate Mate, which tracks verified employer sponsorship history and surfaces open positions at companies with a real track record. This helps you avoid applying to employers who claim they sponsor but have no history of doing so, a common frustration in the job search process.
How do I approach the Green Card sponsorship conversation with Innovetive Petcare?
Raise the topic after you've demonstrated clear value, ideally once you've reached the offer stage or a late-round interview. Frame it around your commitment to the company and the industry long-term, not just your immigration needs. Because the PERM process requires the employer to invest time and legal resources, showing genuine alignment with the role makes sponsorship conversations far more productive.
