Align your credentials to NCEES standards
Kiewit's Bridge Engineer roles typically require or strongly prefer a Professional Engineer license. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation completed before applying so your qualifications read clearly to their hiring team.
Target roles tied to active energy projects
Kiewit staffs bridge engineers on energy corridor and transmission infrastructure projects. Filtering your search by business unit or project type, rather than just job title, surfaces openings where sponsorship is most likely built into the hire from the start.
Prepare your LCA documentation before the offer stage
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your H-1B petition can move forward. Knowing what prevailing wage level applies to your Bridge Engineer role helps you evaluate whether an offer is structured to support a clean filing.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Bridge Engineer roles at Kiewit
Filter by company and visa type on Migrate Mate to see which Kiewit postings are currently active and what sponsorship categories they support, so you're applying to roles where authorization is already part of the hiring process.
Factor PERM timelines into your green card planning
If Kiewit initiates EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship for your role, the PERM labor certification process through DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before the I-140 petition can be filed. Build that timeline into any long-term planning early in your employment.

Find Bridge Engineer at Kiewit JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Kiewit sponsor H-1B visas for Bridge Engineers?
Yes, Kiewit sponsors H-1B visas for Bridge Engineer roles. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing matters. If you're already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT, you'll want to confirm your remaining authorized period covers the April 1 start date after a successful lottery selection in March.
Which visa types does Kiewit commonly use for Bridge Engineer roles?
Kiewit sponsors across several visa categories for Bridge Engineers, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students still in or recently out of university programs, J-1 for certain exchange arrangements, and employment-based Green Card pathways through EB-2 or EB-3 for longer-term hires.
What qualifications does Kiewit expect for Bridge Engineer positions?
Kiewit typically looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in civil or structural engineering. Candidates with experience in bridge design, inspection, or construction management on heavy civil or energy infrastructure projects are well-positioned. A Professional Engineer license, while not always required at entry level, strengthens your application considerably for senior roles.
How do I apply for Bridge Engineer jobs at Kiewit?
You can browse and apply for open Bridge Engineer positions at Kiewit through Migrate Mate, which filters active roles by company and visa sponsorship type. When applying, make sure your resume reflects specific project experience in bridge or heavy civil work, and be prepared to address your visa situation directly with the recruiter early in the process.
How do I plan my timeline if Kiewit offers H-1B or Green Card sponsorship?
For H-1B sponsorship, the petition must be filed with USCIS in early April for an October 1 start date, so your offer needs to be in place by late February or early March. For Green Card sponsorship through PERM, expect the full process from labor certification through I-140 approval to take anywhere from 18 months to several years, depending on your priority date and country of birth.
