Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Project Lead Jobs at Kiewit Jobs
Align your credentials to Kiewit's project delivery model
Kiewit runs large-scale energy construction projects under tight schedules, so your resume should highlight direct field experience managing subcontractors, schedules, and budgets on EPC or heavy civil projects, not just office-side coordination roles.
Pursue PMP or OSHA certifications before applying
Kiewit's Project Lead postings consistently reference certifications alongside engineering degrees. A PMP credential or OSHA 30-hour card signals field readiness and strengthens your petition when your employer documents specialty occupation status to USCIS.
Target Kiewit's energy division openings specifically
Kiewit operates distinct business units for power, oil and gas, and industrial projects. Applying directly to energy division roles improves your fit score and ensures the sponsoring entity matches the project type on your Labor Condition Application filed with DOL.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Project Lead openings
Not every job listing signals genuine sponsorship willingness. Use Migrate Mate to find Kiewit Project Lead roles confirmed to support work visa applicants, so you're spending time on applications that won't dead-end at the offer stage.
Clarify your visa timeline before the offer stage
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date before final interviews. Kiewit's project staffing timelines are rigid, and a gap between OPT expiration and H-1B cap-gap coverage can affect your start date on a job site with a fixed mobilization schedule.
Understand how PERM labor certification affects your timeline
Kiewit sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, but PERM requires DOL to certify no qualified U.S. workers were available. For Project Lead roles, document your unique project experience carefully so your employer can defend the specific requirements during recruitment.

Find Project Lead at Kiewit JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Kiewit sponsor H-1B visas for Project Leads?
Yes, Kiewit sponsors H-1B visas for Project Lead roles. The position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the engineering degree requirements and technical scope of energy construction projects. Your employer files Form I-129 with USCIS, and if you're subject to the annual cap, your start date aligns with the October 1 fiscal year start.
Which visa types does Kiewit commonly use for Project Lead roles?
Kiewit sponsors H-1B visas for most international hires in project management functions. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for early-career candidates still completing degrees. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. For longer-term pathways, Kiewit supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process with DOL.
How do I apply for Project Lead jobs at Kiewit?
You can search and apply through Kiewit's careers portal, where openings are posted by business unit and project type. To find roles that are confirmed to support visa sponsorship, browse Kiewit's Project Lead listings on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for positions open to work authorization. Tailor your application to the energy division and specific project scope listed.
What qualifications and experience does Kiewit expect for Project Lead roles?
Kiewit typically expects a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering combined with hands-on field experience managing crews and subcontractors on energy or heavy industrial projects. Familiarity with EPC project delivery, scheduling tools, and cost control is expected. Certifications like PMP or OSHA 30 strengthen your application and support specialty occupation documentation for H-1B purposes.
How do I plan my timeline for visa sponsorship when accepting a Project Lead offer at Kiewit?
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorization window before the offer is finalized. H-1B cap filings open in March each year, with employment starting October 1 if selected. For TN visa holders, the process is faster and can be completed at the port of entry. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship typically begins after one to two years of employment.
