Align your credentials to Kiewit's field requirements
Kiewit's energy project management roles typically require a construction management or engineering degree alongside field experience. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation completed before applying so it's ready when sponsorship discussions begin.
Target roles tied to active energy projects
Kiewit staffs Project Managers against specific project awards in power, oil and gas, and industrial sectors. Searching by region where Kiewit has active contracts increases your odds of finding a role with immediate sponsorship urgency rather than a pipeline posting.
Search verified sponsorship history on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Project Manager openings at Kiewit by visa type, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship for your specific category has actually been used, not just assumed based on company size.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
Kiewit sponsors multiple visa types for this role, including H-1B and TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals. Knowing which category fits your situation lets you respond clearly if a recruiter asks about your sponsorship needs during an offer conversation.
Understand H-1B cap timing relative to your start date
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS only accepts cap-subject petitions in April for an October 1 start date. Discuss this constraint with Kiewit's hiring team early so your offer timeline accounts for the registration window.
Prepare a project portfolio that reflects infrastructure scale
Kiewit interviewers for Project Manager roles focus on budget ownership, subcontractor management, and schedule delivery on large capital projects. Document specific project values and scope in your resume before outreach so sponsorship conversations don't stall on qualification reviews.

Find Project Manager at Kiewit JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Kiewit sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Kiewit sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. Project management positions in energy infrastructure typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria, since the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field. If you're cap-subject, your offer timing needs to align with the annual H-1B registration window in March.
Which visa types does Kiewit commonly use for Project Manager roles?
Kiewit uses H-1B for most internationally sponsored Project Manager hires, but also sponsors TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering and management occupations, as well as supporting F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 PERM labor certification is available for longer-term hires, typically after an initial period in the role.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Kiewit?
Applications go through Kiewit's careers portal, where Project Manager postings are listed by district and project type. For international candidates who need visa sponsorship, browsing open roles on Migrate Mate first lets you filter by visa category and confirm sponsorship eligibility before submitting a direct application, which saves time if a particular posting isn't sponsorship-eligible.
What qualifications does Kiewit expect for Project Manager roles in energy?
Kiewit's energy Project Manager roles typically require a degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or construction management, combined with direct field experience on large capital projects. Experience managing subcontractors, owning project schedules, and working on power generation, oil and gas, or industrial construction projects carries the most weight. Professional certifications like PMP are valued but generally secondary to hands-on field leadership experience.
How do I plan my timeline if Kiewit offers me a Project Manager role requiring H-1B sponsorship?
If you're outside the U.S. or need a new cap-subject H-1B, USCIS's annual registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Kiewit's HR team will file the petition on your behalf, but you should have your credential evaluation, degree transcripts, and employment verification documents ready before an offer is finalized. Delays in document collection are the most common reason sponsorship timelines slip after an offer is extended.
