Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Research Technician Jobs at Lam Research Jobs
Align your credentials to semiconductor process requirements
Lam Research's Research Technician roles typically require hands-on experience with vacuum systems, thin-film deposition, or plasma etch equipment. Document your lab coursework, cleanroom certifications, and equipment-specific training before applying, as these directly map to job descriptions.
Target Lam Research openings tied to active product programs
Research Technician postings at Lam Research are often tied to specific product lines like Kiyo or Altus. Roles supporting active development programs tend to move faster through internal approvals, which matters when your OPT clock or grace period is running.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Research Technician roles by visa type
Lam Research sponsors multiple visa categories for Research Technicians. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions by the visa type you need, so you're only spending time on roles where sponsorship is already confirmed for your situation.
Confirm LCA filing scope during your offer stage
Before signing an offer, verify that Lam Research's Labor Condition Application covers the specific facility where you'll work. Research Technician positions are often tied to a single fab or R&D site, and your LCA must reflect that exact worksite per DOL requirements.
Prepare for EB-3 rather than assuming EB-2 eligibility
Research Technician roles at Lam Research typically fall under EB-3 sponsorship because the position requires an associate degree or equivalent experience rather than a full bachelor's degree in a specialty field. Understand where your role sits before expecting EB-2 treatment.
Request a clear H-1B filing timeline before your OPT expires
If you're on F-1 OPT, ask your Lam Research recruiter or HR contact exactly when they plan to file your H-1B petition. USCIS requires filing by April 1 for an October 1 start, and missing that window on a Research Technician offer can mean a gap in work authorization.

Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Research Technicians?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Research Technician roles. The company has an established process for international candidates and regularly files H-1B petitions through USCIS for technical positions at its U.S. facilities. If you're on F-1 OPT, your employer will need to file before the April 1 cap-subject deadline for an October 1 start date.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Research Technician roles?
Lam Research sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Research Technician positions. Most candidates in this role pursue H-1B or EB-3 for long-term sponsorship, while F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for Research Technician positions?
Lam Research typically looks for candidates with an associate or bachelor's degree in a physical science, materials science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field. Hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment such as CVD, PVD, or etch systems is a strong differentiator. Cleanroom experience, familiarity with SPC methods, and the ability to follow precise process documentation are also commonly expected.
How do I apply for Research Technician jobs at Lam Research?
You can find and apply for Research Technician roles at Lam Research through Migrate Mate, which lists open positions filtered by visa type so you can confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying. Applications go directly through Lam Research's hiring system. Having your resume tailored to semiconductor lab skills and equipment-specific experience will strengthen your application from the first screen.
How do I understand the timeline from offer to work authorization at Lam Research?
For H-1B candidates, Lam Research must file your petition with USCIS by April 1, and your authorized start date is October 1 of that year.
