Tailor your resume to Lam's process nodes
Lam Research hires process engineers with hands-on experience in etch, CVD, ALD, or surface preparation. Highlight specific equipment platforms and process integration work rather than general manufacturing experience. Vague resumes get filtered before they reach a hiring manager.
Verify your degree aligns with specialty occupation requirements
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the role. A degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or electrical engineering typically satisfies this for process engineer positions. A general engineering degree with no semiconductor coursework can complicate your H-1B petition.
Target Lam's campus and intern pipeline early
Lam Research actively converts F-1 OPT and CPT candidates from semiconductor-focused graduate programs. Applying through their university recruiting track, especially from programs with fab facilities, puts you in front of teams that already have sponsorship workflows in place.
Understand Lam's PERM filing posture before accepting
Before signing an offer, confirm whether Lam will initiate PERM-based Green Card sponsorship and on what timeline. For EB-2 or EB-3 filings, DOL requires a minimum recruitment process. Starting that conversation at the offer stage avoids assumptions that surface two years into employment.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open roles with sponsorship attached
Not every Manufacturing Process Engineer posting at Lam Research explicitly flags visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to surface roles where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're not spending time on applications that will stall at the offer stage.
Account for H-1B cap timing when planning your start date
If you need a new H-1B and aren't already in status, USCIS only allows October 1 start dates for cap-subject petitions. Align your application timeline and any OPT expiration with this window to avoid an employment gap before your status activates.

Find Manufacturing Process Engineer at Lam Research JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing Process Engineers?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Manufacturing Process Engineers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria given the degree requirements in engineering or a related technical field. Lam's size and semiconductor industry focus mean it has established internal immigration workflows, which typically makes the H-1B process more predictable than at smaller employers.
Which visa types are commonly used for Manufacturing Process Engineer roles at Lam Research?
H-1B is the most common path for full-time hires. F-1 OPT and CPT are frequently used for recent graduates entering through Lam's internship or new grad pipelines. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. For longer-term employees, Lam supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
How do I apply for Manufacturing Process Engineer jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal. You can also find and filter open Manufacturing Process Engineer roles with confirmed visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate, which saves time by surfacing only the positions relevant to international candidates. Tailoring your application to the specific process area listed in the job description, whether etch, deposition, or clean, significantly improves your chances of moving forward.
What qualifications are expected for Manufacturing Process Engineer positions at Lam Research?
Lam typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with semiconductor process equipment is a strong differentiator. Familiarity with process integration, statistical process control, or design of experiments is commonly cited in job descriptions. Candidates from PhD programs with direct fab or cleanroom experience are especially competitive for advanced process roles.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a role at Lam Research?
For H-1B, standard USCIS processing runs three to six months from filing, with premium processing available for faster adjudication. Cap-subject petitions can only start on October 1, so timing matters if you're not transferring from an existing H-1B. For Green Card sponsorship through PERM, the full process including DOL labor certification and I-140 filing typically takes one to three years depending on your priority date and country of birth.
