Align your background with semiconductor operations
Lam Research's Business Operations teams support semiconductor equipment manufacturing, so framing your experience around supply chain, production planning, or cross-functional program coordination in a hardware or manufacturing context will position you far more competitively than a generalist operations profile.
Target roles that map to specialty occupation criteria
H-1B eligibility requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Business Operations titles at Lam Research that require a specific bachelor's degree in fields like industrial engineering, supply chain management, or business analytics carry stronger petition support than generalist coordinator roles.
Search verified sponsoring employers before applying broadly
Use Migrate Mate to filter Business Operations openings at Lam Research specifically, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than spending weeks pursuing positions that turn out to be off the table.
Understand how Lam Research structures internal transfers
If you're already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or CPT, Lam Research's Business Operations function has historically supported international new grads transitioning from training roles into full-time positions. Flag your OPT status and expiration date early in conversations with recruiters so the H-1B timeline doesn't catch anyone off guard.
Prepare your LCA documentation before the offer stage
Lam Research's HR team will need to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition can proceed. Knowing your intended work location and job duties precisely speeds up this step, and delays here often push filing past the April 1 cap-subject window.
Account for PERM timelines if your goal is a Green Card
Lam Research sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, but PERM labor certification through the DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition can be filed. Starting this conversation with your hiring manager early in your tenure is what determines whether you're in a strong position before your H-1B extensions run out.

Find Business Operations at Lam Research JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Business Operations roles. The key requirement is that the specific position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it requires a theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles tied to semiconductor supply chain, operations analytics, or program management in a technical context tend to meet this bar.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal at lamresearch.com. Search for Business Operations, Program Operations, or Supply Chain Operations titles and filter by your target location. Before applying, review the job description carefully for degree requirements and technical context, since Lam Research's Business Operations roles vary significantly in their technical depth. Migrate Mate also lists open Business Operations positions at Lam Research filtered by sponsorship eligibility.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Business Operations roles?
Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Business Operations hires who require cap-subject petitions, and also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students in training or internship phases. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupational categories. For longer-term permanent residence, Lam Research has a track record of sponsoring EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process administered by the DOL.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for Business Operations candidates?
Most Business Operations roles at Lam Research require a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, supply chain management, business administration, or a related technical field. Practical experience with ERP systems, operations data analysis, or cross-functional project coordination in a hardware or manufacturing environment is consistently valued. Roles at the senior level often require familiarity with semiconductor or capital equipment production environments, which narrows the pool and strengthens your application if that background applies to you.
How do I time my application around the H-1B filing process?
The H-1B cap-subject lottery registration window opens in early March each year, and USCIS selects registrations before April 1. To be included, you need a signed offer and a filed Labor Condition Application with the DOL before that window closes. If you're on F-1 OPT, your employer can file the H-1B petition by April 1 and request a cap-gap extension to bridge any gap between your OPT expiration and October 1, when approved H-1B status begins.
