An ideal Operations Analyst is:
- Curious – a strong desire to dig to and understand the root cause of problems (5x why)
- Lives in the details while understanding the big (holistic) picture.
- Is a self-starter – will not know everything but can teach themselves anything.
- Embraces the detailed work required to achieve high-quality outputs, while actively seeking ways to streamline, improve, and reduce manual effort over time.
- Is hyper-organized and is energized from bringing clarity and control to ambiguous and chaotic situations.
- Can articulate simple, accurate conclusions from large amounts of data.
- Can quickly build trust and establish rapport with all stakeholders and management levels.
- Takes pride in output that has their name on it.
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field, with 5 years experience; or 3 years experience with a Master's degree; or Ph.D with no experience.
- Five (5) years of Operations related experience in data science, program management, or analytics, or other similar role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with experience influencing stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success working in fast-paced global working environment.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders.
- Advanced analytical skills to interpret and utilize data for decision support.

Align your resume to semiconductor manufacturing language
Lam Research Operations roles sit inside a highly specialized fab environment. Tailor your resume to reflect equipment-specific terminology, yield improvement, and process control rather than generic operations or supply chain language that won't signal fit to their hiring teams.
Target roles that match your visa's specialty occupation standard
H-1B eligibility requires your Operations role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Focus on positions with engineering, technical program management, or equipment process titles rather than general logistics roles, which face higher scrutiny during petition review.
Clarify CPT and OPT authorization before your first interview
If you're on F-1 status, confirm your CPT or OPT authorization dates align with Lam Research's typical onboarding timelines. A mismatch between your work authorization start date and their hiring cycle can stall an otherwise strong offer.
Understand how PERM shapes long-term sponsorship timelines
For Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, Lam Research must complete a PERM labor certification through DOL. The process takes roughly 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition is filed, so raise long-term sponsorship intentions early in the offer stage, not after signing.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Operations roles at Lam Research
Tracking which Lam Research Operations positions are actively hiring and open to visa sponsorship is time-consuming. Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring employers by role type and company, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Prepare documentation that demonstrates hands-on technical depth
Lam Research Operations interviews often assess process improvement projects, equipment troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration in a fab or manufacturing environment. Prepare concrete examples from previous roles that show direct technical impact, not just oversight or coordination responsibilities.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Operations positions, particularly roles tied to semiconductor equipment, process engineering, and technical program management. The role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, so positions with a clear degree requirement in a relevant field are the strongest candidates for petition approval.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse verified Operations openings at Lam Research that are open to visa sponsorship, which saves time filtering through roles that won't support your immigration status. Tailor your application to reflect semiconductor manufacturing or technical operations experience rather than general industry backgrounds.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Operations hires?
Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for mid-to-senior Operations roles and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates entering the function. For longer-term employees, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through PERM labor certification are available. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Operations positions under USMCA.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for Operations roles?
Most Operations positions at Lam Research require a bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, or a related technical field, with advanced degrees preferred for senior roles. Practical experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing, fab operations, or process improvement is valued heavily. Familiarity with lean manufacturing methodologies and cross-functional collaboration in a hardware production environment strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Lam Research Operations offer?
For H-1B sponsorship, standard USCIS processing runs three to five months after the April 1 filing date, with an October 1 start date. Premium processing reduces that to 15 business days. If you're already on OPT, you can start before the H-1B takes effect. Green Card sponsorship through PERM and EB-2 or EB-3 takes considerably longer, often two or more years depending on your priority date.
