Align Your Credentials with FINRA Requirements
LPL Financial requires Financial Consultants to hold Series 7 and Series 66 licenses before advising clients. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., map them to FINRA equivalencies early so licensing gaps don't stall your offer timeline.
Target LPL's Institutional and Independent Channels
LPL hires Financial Consultants across both its institutional services arm and independent advisor network. Roles tied to institutional clients tend to have more structured sponsorship pathways, so filtering your search by division can meaningfully improve your odds.
Understand How H-1B Cap Timing Affects Your Start Date
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start. If LPL extends an offer outside that window, ask whether a cap-exempt filing applies or whether your start date needs to align with the next cap season.
Ask About EB-2 and EB-3 Sponsorship During Negotiations
LPL sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 green card categories for this role. Raise the question of PERM labor certification timelines during the offer stage, not after onboarding, so both parties can plan around DOL processing windows together.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Financial Consultant Roles
Filter by visa sponsorship type and industry on Migrate Mate to surface active Financial Consultant openings at LPL Financial. It removes the guesswork of identifying which postings are genuinely open to sponsored candidates.
Prepare for Nonimmigrant Intent Scrutiny in Your Interviews
Financial Consultant roles involve long-term client relationships, which can prompt hiring managers to ask about your visa runway and long-term plans. Come ready to articulate your H-1B validity window and any pending green card steps clearly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does LPL Financial sponsor H-1B visas for Financial Consultants?
Yes, LPL Financial sponsors H-1B visas for Financial Consultant roles. The company has a demonstrated history of filing petitions for this function, which signals that their HR and legal teams are familiar with the process. Sponsorship is not automatic with every offer, so confirm the company's willingness to sponsor early in the interview process, before reaching the offer stage.
How do I apply for Financial Consultant jobs at LPL Financial?
You can find open Financial Consultant positions through LPL Financial's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsored roles. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight client-facing advisory experience, assets under management, and any FINRA licenses you hold. If you're pre-licensing, note your intent to complete Series 7 and Series 66 requirements promptly.
Which visa types does LPL Financial commonly use for Financial Consultant roles?
LPL Financial sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based Green Cards, primarily through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. H-1B is the most common entry point for internationally qualified candidates. Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification typically comes after a period of employment and requires a separate employer commitment, which you should raise explicitly during offer negotiations.
What qualifications does LPL Financial expect for sponsored Financial Consultant positions?
LPL Financial generally expects a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a closely related field, along with active or in-progress FINRA licenses, particularly the Series 7 and Series 66. Demonstrated experience managing client portfolios or providing investment advisory services strengthens your application. Candidates with CFP or CFA designations are viewed favorably, particularly for roles serving high-net-worth clients.
How do I think about timing when pursuing H-1B sponsorship at LPL Financial?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March each year, with a lottery selection shortly after. USCIS sets an October 1 start date for cap-subject approvals. If LPL extends an offer outside this window, your start date may need to shift to align with the next fiscal year cycle, which can be six to eighteen months away. Plan your job search timeline with this window in mind.
