Verify Your NCLEX and Credential Equivalency Early
MSK requires U.S. RN licensure before you can start. If your nursing degree is from outside the U.S., submit your credentials to a CGFNS-recognized evaluation service well before applying, as the review process can take several months.
Target Oncology Specialty Units Directly
MSK's sponsorship activity for nurses concentrates in oncology-specific units, not general med-surg floors. Tailor your application materials to highlight any hematology, oncology, or cancer care experience to match the roles where sponsorship is most active.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Nursing Openings by Visa Type
MSK lists roles across multiple visa categories including H-1B, E-3, and TN. Use Migrate Mate to filter current MSK nursing openings by the visa type you hold or need, so you're only applying to positions aligned with your sponsorship situation.
Understand How MSK Handles PERM for Permanent Residency
MSK sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for nursing staff through the PERM labor certification process filed with DOL. Clarify during the offer stage whether your role qualifies and what the typical internal timeline looks like before the PERM filing begins.
Align Your Application Timing With H-1B Cap Deadlines
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, MSK must file your petition during the annual USCIS registration window in March. Coordinate your offer acceptance and onboarding timeline so your start date aligns with the October 1 cap-year employment date.
Clarify OPT and CPT Bridge Options With HR Before Accepting
MSK sponsors F-1 OPT and CPT, which can bridge you into a nursing role while your H-1B petition is pending. Confirm with MSK's HR or international hiring team that your unit and position type qualify for this arrangement before signing an offer.

Find Nursing at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center sponsor H-1B visas for Nurses?
Yes, MSK sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying nursing roles. Because H-1B nursing petitions require the position to meet the specialty occupation standard, MSK typically files for roles in advanced or specialized oncology units where a nursing degree in a specific field is a genuine requirement. Confirm this with the hiring team during the offer stage, since not every nursing title qualifies.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center?
Applications go through MSK's careers portal at mskcc.org. Search by department or unit, such as oncology, hematology, or ambulatory care. Your application should include a resume tailored to cancer care experience and current U.S. RN licensure details. Migrate Mate also lists open MSK nursing roles filtered by visa sponsorship type, which makes it easier to identify positions that match your immigration status.
Which visa types does MSK commonly use for Nursing roles?
MSK sponsors a broad range of visa categories for nursing staff, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1 for exchange visitors, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. For nurses seeking permanent residency, MSK also files EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant petitions through the PERM labor certification process with DOL.
What qualifications does MSK expect for sponsored Nursing positions?
MSK generally looks for candidates with active U.S. RN licensure in New York, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher, and clinical experience in oncology or a related specialty. For positions requiring H-1B sponsorship, your degree must directly relate to the specialty area of the role. Certifications such as OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) strengthen your application significantly for MSK's core oncology units.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Nursing role at MSK?
The timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B sponsorship tied to the annual cap means a March registration window and an October 1 start date at the earliest, so plan for six or more months between offer and day one. E-3 and TN visas move faster, often within four to eight weeks of an approved offer. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship is a separate, longer process that MSK typically initiates after you are already employed.
