The Company
PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.
We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.
We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards. Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other. We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.
Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness. Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do – and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.

Target roles in engineering and product
PayPal's heaviest sponsorship activity concentrates in software engineering, data science, and product management. If your background sits in these areas, you're applying into the departments where PayPal has the strongest and most consistent sponsorship track record.
Understand PayPal's Green Card commitment
PayPal actively supports employees through permanent residency, sponsoring both EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. If long-term U.S. residency is your goal, ask about their Green Card process during interviews, it's a realistic outcome here, not an afterthought.
Highlight fintech domain knowledge
PayPal competes for talent in payments, fraud detection, risk, and financial infrastructure. Candidates who demonstrate fluency in financial services regulation, compliance systems, or payment processing stand out from generalist applicants competing for the same sponsored roles.
Check OPT and CPT compatibility early
PayPal sponsors F-1 OPT and CPT, making it accessible for students and recent graduates. Confirm your OPT end date before applying and communicate your timeline clearly, PayPal's recruiting teams are experienced handling the transition from OPT to H-1B sponsorship.
Search verified sponsorship history before applying
Not every open role at PayPal will lead to sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and identify which PayPal roles and teams have actively filed for work visas in the past.
Prepare for a structured, multi-round interview process
PayPal's hiring process in technical and financial roles typically runs three to five rounds, including system design and behavioral interviews. Starting early gives you enough runway to clear all rounds before OPT expiry or other visa deadlines create pressure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does PayPal sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, PayPal sponsors H-1B visas and is considered one of the more active sponsors in the Banking & Financial Services sector. Sponsorship is most common in software engineering, data science, cybersecurity, and product roles. If you're on OPT and targeting H-1B sponsorship, PayPal is a strong candidate given its consistent filing history and experience managing cap-subject petitions.
Which visa types does PayPal sponsor?
PayPal sponsors H-1B, TN visa, J-1 visa, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for work authorization, and supports Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications for longer-term employees. The breadth of visa types reflects PayPal's global hiring approach and its willingness to support candidates at multiple stages of their immigration journey, from initial work authorization through permanent residency.
Which departments or roles at PayPal are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Software engineering, machine learning, data engineering, cybersecurity, and product management are the roles where PayPal's sponsorship activity is most concentrated. Risk and compliance roles within the financial services side of the business also see sponsorship. Roles that are more operations-focused or that don't require specialized technical degrees tend to be less commonly sponsored.
How do I find open roles at PayPal that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate tracks verified sponsorship data so you can browse PayPal's current openings filtered by visa type and sponsorship history. This is more reliable than searching general job boards, where sponsorship availability is rarely confirmed upfront. Focus your search on technical and product roles, where PayPal's sponsorship activity is strongest, to improve your odds of finding a match.
How do I approach the application timeline at PayPal if my OPT is expiring?
Start the process at least six months before your OPT expiry if you need H-1B sponsorship. PayPal's interview process for technical roles typically spans several weeks across multiple rounds. Factor in offer negotiation, onboarding paperwork, and the H-1B registration window in March, your start date, registration timing, and visa status all need to align without gaps in work authorization.
