Align your portfolio with API tooling
Postman's engineering work centers on developer experience, API platforms, and collaboration infrastructure. Before applying, make sure your portfolio and resume reflect experience with distributed systems, developer tooling, or API design patterns rather than generic full-stack projects.
Target roles that match your specialty directly
H-1B approval for Software Engineers depends on the role qualifying as a specialty occupation. Apply to positions that explicitly require a computer science or engineering degree, not generalist roles where any technical background might satisfy the requirement.
Prepare for a multi-stage technical process
Postman's interview loop typically includes system design and coding rounds. Practicing API design scenarios and distributed systems tradeoffs is practical preparation, since those mirror the actual engineering problems the team works on.
Understand the PERM timeline for Green Card planning
If long-term sponsorship matters to you, ask during the offer stage whether the company supports EB-2 or EB-3 PERM filings. DOL requires employers to complete a lengthy labor market test before filing, so earlier conversations lead to better planning.
Search Postman openings on Migrate Mate
Filtering Software Engineer roles by confirmed sponsorship history saves time that generic job boards waste. Use Migrate Mate to surface Postman openings alongside their visa sponsorship track record so you apply where your immigration situation actually fits.

Find Software Engineer at Postman JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Postman sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Postman has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. If you receive an offer, the company works with immigration counsel to file the H-1B petition. Because H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing your offer relative to the April filing window matters significantly for planning your start date.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Postman?
Applications go through Postman's careers page, where open Software Engineer positions are listed by team and specialty. You can also find and filter Postman's roles by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to confirm a role fits your immigration situation before you invest time in the application process.
Which visa types does Postman commonly use for Software Engineer roles?
Postman sponsors H-1B visas as the primary long-term work authorization path for Software Engineers. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates currently on student visas, and has filed EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant petitions for employees pursuing permanent residence. The right path depends on your current status and career stage.
What qualifications does Postman expect for Software Engineer roles?
Most Software Engineer positions at Postman expect a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Practical experience with distributed systems, API development, or developer tooling is consistently valued. The degree field matters for H-1B eligibility, since USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree and the role.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap?
USCIS opens H-1B registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting Postman and need H-1B sponsorship, aim to have an offer accepted by February so there's time for your employer's immigration team to prepare the filing. Candidates on F-1 OPT can start before the H-1B takes effect if their OPT authorization covers the gap period.
