Align your portfolio with API tooling
Postman's Engineering roles center on developer tooling, API infrastructure, and platform engineering. Before applying, make sure your portfolio or GitHub showcases work in these areas. Reviewers are looking for signal that you understand the developer experience problem space.
Verify your OPT timeline before applying
If you're on F-1 OPT, calculate your remaining authorization window against Postman's typical hiring timeline. STEM OPT gives you up to 36 months total, but your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify, which Postman is, so the extension is available if you qualify.
Target roles that map to H-1B specialty occupations
Not every Engineering title at a software company qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines. Focus on roles explicitly requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a directly related field, since those petitions face less scrutiny at the adjudication stage.
Search Postman Engineering openings on Migrate Mate
Filtering by visa type and company at once saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship isn't offered. Use Migrate Mate to surface Postman Engineering listings confirmed for sponsorship, so your outreach is directed at positions that can actually move forward.
Get your offer letter reviewed before H-1B filing
The job duties and degree requirement in your offer letter form the backbone of Postman's I-129 petition. If the description is too broad or doesn't establish a specific specialty, USCIS may issue an RFE. Ask your immigration contact at Postman to confirm the job description is tight before filing.
Understand the H-1B cap lottery timing
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're interviewing in late fall or winter, confirm with Postman's HR whether they'll support the next available lottery cycle, since a missed window means waiting a full year.

Does Postman sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Postman sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The process follows the standard USCIS H-1B cap lottery, which runs each spring for an October 1 start date. How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Postman?
Applications go through Postman's careers page, where Engineering roles are listed by team and seniority. Tailor your resume to reflect experience with developer tooling, API infrastructure, or distributed systems, since those are recurring themes in Postman's Engineering org. You can also browse open Engineering roles at Postman filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate.
Which visa types does Postman sponsor for Engineering roles?
Postman sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation Engineering roles and supports F-1 OPT and STEM OPT extensions for recent graduates. For longer-term immigration, Postman has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for Engineering employees. The right path depends on your current status, degree field, and how far along you are in the immigration process.
What qualifications does Postman expect for Engineering roles?
Most Engineering roles at Postman require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, which also satisfies the USCIS specialty occupation requirement for H-1B petitions. Practically, Postman's Engineering teams prioritize experience with backend systems, platform infrastructure, or developer tooling. Demonstrable work on APIs or distributed systems strengthens your application significantly.
How long does the sponsorship process take for an Engineering hire at Postman?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B transfers from another employer can be effective relatively quickly once Postman files the petition. New H-1B registrations follow the lottery in March with an October 1 start date. STEM OPT extensions require your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify and must be filed with USCIS at least 90 days before your current OPT expires.
