Target clinical and technical roles first
Sentara Health's sponsorship activity is concentrated in clinical and healthcare technology positions. Focus your search on roles like registered nurses, physicians, and health IT specialists, where international hiring is most established and sponsorship approval rates tend to be stronger.
Apply early in healthcare hiring cycles
Healthcare systems like Sentara often hire on rolling cycles tied to staffing needs. Submitting applications early in the cycle, especially ahead of H-1B cap season in March, gives you the best chance of clearing internal approvals before sponsorship deadlines hit.
Highlight healthcare-specific credentials prominently
Sentara evaluates candidates for specialized clinical or technical competency. Licensure, certifications, and hands-on healthcare experience directly relevant to your target role signal sponsorship worthiness to hiring managers who need confidence before committing to visa support.
Search for open roles using a verified sponsor filter
Not every job listing confirms sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving time by focusing only on Sentara roles where international candidates have a genuine shot.
Prepare for a multi-step internal approval process
Large healthcare systems like Sentara route sponsorship decisions through HR, legal, and department heads before an offer is finalized. Ask early in your interviews whether the role has been pre-approved for sponsorship to avoid delays late in the hiring process.

Does Sentara Health sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Sentara Health sponsors H-1B visas and has a consistent track record of doing so across healthcare and medical services roles. Sponsorship is most common in clinical and technical positions where specialized qualifications are required. If you're targeting an H-1B, focus on roles that clearly require a degree in a specific field, and confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process.
Which visa types does Sentara Health sponsor?
Sentara Health sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas. This range makes Sentara accessible to a broad set of international candidates, from recent graduates on OPT to experienced professionals seeking an H-1B. TN sponsorship is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying healthcare occupations, and J-1 support often appears in residency and fellowship programs.
Which departments or roles at Sentara Health typically receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Sentara Health is most common in clinical departments, including nursing, physician specialties, and allied health, as well as health information technology and administrative roles requiring specialized credentials. Positions with clear degree and licensure requirements tend to have the strongest case for sponsorship because they meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B petitions.
How do I find currently open visa-sponsored jobs at Sentara Health?
Migrate Mate is the most efficient way to find open roles at Sentara Health that are verified for visa sponsorship. Rather than sorting through listings that don't confirm international hiring, Migrate Mate filters by real sponsorship history so you can browse Sentara openings with confidence that sponsorship is on the table before you invest time applying.
How do I improve my chances of getting sponsored by Sentara Health?
Start by targeting roles that match your credentials precisely, since healthcare employers like Sentara sponsor based on specific clinical or technical need. Raise your visa status and sponsorship needs early in conversations with recruiters rather than waiting until an offer stage. Having your credential evaluations, licensure, and any OPT or CPT documentation ready in advance signals you've done the groundwork, which reduces friction for the employer's legal and HR teams.
