Match your credentials to USMCA professions
Before applying, confirm your degree maps directly to a profession on the USMCA TN list. aptim's consulting and environmental work frequently draws on engineers, scientists, and management consultants, but your credential, not your job title, determines TN eligibility at the border.
Request a detailed TN support letter
Ask your aptim hiring contact for a support letter that specifies your USMCA profession category, the prearranged nature of the work, and your intended duration. Vague letters are the leading cause of border delays. The more precisely it mirrors USMCA language, the smoother your admission will be.
Target aptim's environmental and engineering divisions
aptim's core work in remediation, infrastructure, and federal consulting aligns tightly with TN-eligible roles like civil engineer, environmental scientist, and management consultant. Focusing your search on these divisions puts you in front of managers who already understand TN admission and don't need convincing.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified aptim TN roles
Search Migrate Mate to surface aptim positions where TN-eligible candidates have historically been hired. This saves you from applying to roles outside the USMCA professions list and helps you prioritize openings in teams that already have TN admission experience on staff.
Prepare for port-of-entry processing as a Canadian
Canadian nationals apply directly at a U.S. port of entry, so bring your aptim offer letter, degree transcripts, and professional credentials in physical form. Officers can ask detailed questions about your consulting duties, so align your verbal explanation of the role with the exact USMCA profession named in your letter.
Account for consulate scheduling if you hold Mexican nationality
Mexican TN applicants must schedule a consular interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate, which adds lead time that Canadian border admissions don't require. Coordinate your start date with aptim after confirming consulate appointment availability in your city to avoid a gap between your offer acceptance and your actual admission date.
aptim TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does aptim sponsor TN visas?
Yes, aptim supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals by issuing offer letters for qualifying USMCA roles. Because TN is treaty-based admission rather than an employer petition, aptim doesn't file anything with USCIS. You present aptim's support letter at the port of entry or U.S. consulate to request admission in the appropriate USMCA profession category.
Which roles at aptim typically qualify for TN admission?
aptim's environmental, engineering, and federal consulting divisions offer the strongest alignment with TN-eligible USMCA professions. Roles such as civil engineer, environmental scientist, and management consultant come up most frequently. Your specific degree field must match the USMCA profession category, so confirm eligibility against the official professions list before applying.
How do I start the TN process after receiving an aptim offer?
Once aptim issues a formal offer letter identifying your USMCA profession, Canadian nationals proceed directly to a U.S. port of entry with that letter, degree credentials, and any supporting documentation. Mexican nationals schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate. In both cases, aptim's role is complete once the offer letter is issued. Migrate Mate can help you identify the right aptim roles before you reach that stage.
How long does TN admission at aptim take?
For Canadian nationals, TN admission at the port of entry is typically same-day when documentation is complete and consistent. Mexican nationals face additional lead time because a consular appointment must be scheduled in advance. aptim's offer letter preparation is generally straightforward once a hiring decision is made, so the bottleneck is usually consulate scheduling rather than anything on aptim's side.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at aptim?
Search aptim's careers page filtering for roles in engineering, environmental services, and consulting, then cross-check each job's required degree against the USMCA TN professions list. Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree in a defined field are the strongest candidates. You can also use Migrate Mate to surface aptim openings where TN candidates are a known fit, reducing time spent on roles outside USMCA eligibility.
How does TN visa admission work at aptim?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from aptim, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
