Match your credentials to USMCA professions
Bechtel hires across civil, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineering disciplines. Before applying, confirm your degree title and field map directly to a named USMCA profession. A mismatch between your credential and the listed occupation is the most common reason TN admission is refused at the border.
Target Bechtel's project-based engineering teams
Bechtel staffs large infrastructure and energy projects in cycles, so TN openings often cluster around contract awards. Watch for postings tied to specific projects in nuclear, mining, or oil and gas. Roles with clear specialty occupation titles move faster through the offer letter process than generalist postings.
Request a detailed offer letter before your border appointment
Bechtel's HR team issues the offer letter you'll present at the port of entry or consulate. Ask explicitly that it name your USMCA profession category, describe your duties in that context, and confirm the arrangement is temporary. Officers deny entry when the letter is vague about professional classification.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Bechtel's active TN hiring
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified TN-supporting employers, so you can find current Bechtel openings alongside the employer's sponsorship history. Searching there before you apply helps you prioritize roles where TN professionals are already working and the hiring team understands the admission process.
Prepare your credential evaluation before applying
If your engineering degree is from a non-U.S. institution, Bechtel's hiring managers often expect a credential evaluation confirming U.S. equivalency. Arrange a NACES-member evaluation before you receive an offer. Waiting until after the offer is extended delays the offer letter and compresses your border appointment timeline.
Understand that TN status is tied to your role description
At Bechtel, internal transfers or promotions that shift your duties outside the USMCA profession on your original TN require a new admission. If your responsibilities change materially, you'll need a new offer letter and a fresh border or consulate appointment before the role change takes effect.
Bechtel TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Bechtel sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Bechtel supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in engineering and related technical disciplines. Because TN is treaty-based rather than petition-based, Bechtel's role is to issue a support letter confirming your role, duties, and USMCA profession classification. You present that letter at the port of entry or U.S. consulate to obtain TN status.
Which roles at Bechtel are eligible for TN status?
Bechtel's TN-eligible openings are concentrated in engineering disciplines: civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and chemical engineering. Scientific and technical project roles that align with a named USMCA profession also qualify. General management or administrative positions are not TN-eligible regardless of seniority, so verify your specific role maps to the USMCA professions list before applying.
How do I find current TN job openings at Bechtel?
You can search Bechtel's careers page directly, filtering for engineering and technical roles. Migrate Mate also aggregates TN-supporting employers and their active listings, letting you see which Bechtel postings are relevant to your USMCA profession category. Focusing on project-specific roles, particularly in energy and infrastructure, tends to surface the strongest TN fits.
How long does the TN process take when working with Bechtel?
For Canadian nationals, TN admission happens at the port of entry and can be completed in a single day once Bechtel has issued the offer letter and your documents are in order. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate and should account for appointment availability. The full timeline from accepted offer to authorized start date typically runs two to six weeks.
What should I bring to my TN border appointment for a Bechtel role?
Bring Bechtel's signed offer letter specifying your USMCA profession, your original degree certificate, any credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the U.S. or Canada, and a valid passport. If your role requires a professional license or registration, include that documentation as well. CBP officers assess all of these together to confirm your eligibility on the day of admission.
How does TN visa admission work at Bechtel?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Bechtel, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
