Match your credential to USMCA categories
Brown and Caldwell hires heavily in environmental engineering, civil engineering, and hydrology. Before applying, confirm your degree title maps to a recognized USMCA profession category. A mismatch between your credential and the listed occupation is the most common TN denial trigger.
Target water and environmental project teams
Brown and Caldwell's core business is water infrastructure and environmental consulting. TN-eligible engineers and scientists who position themselves around watershed management, wastewater treatment, or environmental compliance land inside the firm's highest-volume hiring areas and find the most receptive hiring managers.
Request a detailed offer letter before your border crossing
Brown and Caldwell issues the support letter you present at the port of entry. Confirm it specifies your USMCA profession category, project scope, and employment duration. Border officers scrutinize vague letters, and a revision after you've traveled can delay your admission by weeks.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Brown and Caldwell's hiring history
Search Brown and Caldwell on Migrate Mate to see which roles the firm has hired for across work visa categories. That history signals which departments actively bring in international professionals, helping you prioritize job listings where TN admission is a familiar and accepted path.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search data
TN status has no formal prevailing-wage filing requirement, but Brown and Caldwell's offers for engineering roles will track industry standards. Pull the relevant occupation code in OFLC Wage Search before negotiating so you enter salary discussions with the same wage data the firm's HR team references.
Prepare your O*NET occupation profile for the interview
If a hiring manager at Brown and Caldwell asks how your role qualifies under USMCA, cite the O*NET occupation profile for your specific title. It documents the degree requirements and core duties that align your position with the treaty's professional categories, giving your case immediate credibility.
Brown and Caldwell TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Brown and Caldwell sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Brown and Caldwell supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying USMCA roles. The firm issues an offer and support letter that candidates present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. There is no USCIS petition involved, so the process moves faster than H-1B visa sponsorship.
Which roles at Brown and Caldwell are most likely to qualify for TN status?
Engineering and scientific roles are the strongest fit. Environmental engineers, civil engineers, geologists, hydrologists, and environmental scientists align directly with USMCA profession categories and with Brown and Caldwell's core service lines in water infrastructure and environmental consulting. Project management roles tied to a qualifying engineering discipline may also qualify depending on your credentials.
How do I start the TN process after receiving an offer from Brown and Caldwell?
Once Brown and Caldwell extends an offer, the firm prepares a support letter confirming your role, USMCA profession category, and employment terms. Canadian citizens present this at a U.S. land border or airport and receive TN status on the spot. Mexican citizens schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate through USCIS's nonimmigrant visa process before traveling.
How long does TN admission take when working with Brown and Caldwell?
For Canadian citizens, TN admission at the border typically takes a few hours once you have the support letter in hand. Mexican citizens applying through a U.S. consulate face appointment wait times that vary by location and season. Either way, the absence of a USCIS petition means you avoid the months-long processing window that H-1B candidates experience.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at Brown and Caldwell?
Search Brown and Caldwell's listings on Migrate Mate, which filters for employers with documented international hiring history. Focus on engineering and environmental science roles, since those map most cleanly to USMCA categories. When you apply, note your TN eligibility in your cover materials so recruiters understand you don't require a lottery or lengthy petition process.
How does TN visa admission work at Brown and Caldwell?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Brown and Caldwell, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
