Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission is limited to occupations explicitly listed under USMCA, so confirm your engineering or consulting role appears on that list before applying. Review the O*NET profile for your target position to verify that your degree field directly aligns with the job duties Burke will describe in your offer letter.
Request an offer letter that mirrors USMCA language
Ask Burke's HR team to specify the USMCA profession category, your degree requirement, and the project-based nature of your work in the offer letter. Consular officers and CBP inspectors assess TN eligibility on the spot, so precise language in that letter determines whether you're admitted or turned away.
Align your resume to infrastructure project experience
Burke focuses on civil, environmental, and transportation engineering. Tailor your resume to highlight project delivery experience in those sectors, because hiring managers here evaluate whether your background fits active client engagements, not just your visa eligibility. Generic engineering resumes get filtered out early in consulting firm pipelines.
Use Migrate Mate to find Burke's verified TN-eligible openings
Search Christopher B. Burke Engineering on Migrate Mate to see which roles the firm has historically supported for TN professionals. Targeting positions where the firm already has a pattern of hiring Canadian and Mexican engineers dramatically improves your odds of getting an offer letter issued quickly.
Prepare your border or consulate package before accepting the offer
Canadians can present their TN package directly at a port of entry without a prior visa stamp, but you need your offer letter, credential evidence, and a clean admissibility record ready before travel. Mexicans must schedule a consulate appointment in advance, which can add several weeks to your start date.
Verify your degree equivalency before the interview stage
Burke's engineering roles typically require a U.S.-equivalent bachelor's degree in a related field. If your degree is from outside the U.S. or Canada, obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-member evaluator before your interview so you can address any equivalency questions the hiring team raises before the offer letter stage.
Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in engineering and related consulting disciplines. The firm issues offer letters that candidates present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. Eligible roles must fall within the USMCA professions list, which covers most engineering specializations Burke actively recruits.
Which roles at Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. typically qualify for TN?
Engineering positions are the primary TN pathway at Burke, including civil, environmental, structural, and transportation engineers. Project management and scientific consulting roles may also qualify depending on how the position is defined in the offer letter. The role must correspond to a recognized USMCA profession, so your job title and duties need to align precisely with USCIS-recognized categories.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a job offer from Burke?
Once Burke extends an offer, request a TN support letter that specifies your profession, degree requirement, and employment terms. Canadians take that letter directly to a CBP port of entry along with their credentials and passport. Mexicans apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. You can use Migrate Mate to identify which Burke roles have historically supported TN admission before you apply.
How long does it take to get TN status for a Burke position?
Canadians with a complete package can receive TN admission at the border the same day, making it one of the faster work authorization pathways available. Mexicans applying at a consulate should expect several weeks depending on appointment availability. Burke typically issues offer letters within their standard hiring timeline, so the overall process from offer to start date can range from a few days to several weeks.
What documents do I need to bring for TN admission when starting at Burke?
You'll need Burke's offer letter, your original academic credentials or transcripts confirming your qualifying degree, a valid passport, and the TN admission fee. If your degree is from outside North America, include a credential evaluation from a recognized evaluator. CBP officers assess all documents at the port of entry, so completeness and consistency between your letter and credentials matter significantly.
How does TN visa admission work at Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd.?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
