Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility is defined by the USMCA professions list, not by job title alone. Before applying to CEC, confirm your degree and role map to a listed category like Engineer or Scientist. O*NET occupation profiles help you verify the match before your interview.
Target CEC's technical practice areas first
CEC organizes work around civil infrastructure, environmental remediation, and geotechnical services. Focus your application on practice areas where your degree aligns directly. Hiring managers in technical consulting divisions are most familiar with TN admission requirements and move faster on those candidates.
Request a role-specific offer letter from CEC
CEC's offer letter must state your TN profession category, your specific job duties, and your employment period. A generic offer letter causes delays at the port of entry. Ask HR to confirm these three elements are explicit before you travel or book a consulate appointment.
Use Migrate Mate to identify CEC's TN hiring patterns
Migrate Mate surfaces employer-level TN sponsorship data, so you can see which roles CEC has supported for TN professionals before applying. That context helps you prioritize job postings and frame your application around positions where CEC has a clear track record.
Prepare your credential documentation before the border
Canadians present their TN package directly at a port of entry, with no advance filing. Gather your degree transcripts, professional licenses, and the CEC offer letter into a single organized packet. CBP officers review everything on the spot, so gaps in documentation cause immediate problems.
Align your salary expectation with prevailing wage benchmarks
While TN doesn't require a formal prevailing wage determination, CEC operates in a market where compensation expectations are grounded in DOL data. Use the OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your target salary against environmental and civil engineering roles in your work location before negotiating your offer.
Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. sponsor TN visas?
Yes. CEC hires Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions across its engineering and environmental consulting practices. TN isn't a petition or sponsorship program in the traditional sense: CEC issues an offer letter, and you present it at the border or U.S. consulate. Roles in civil, environmental, and geotechnical disciplines are the most common TN-supported positions at CEC.
Which roles at CEC typically qualify for TN admission?
CEC's core service lines in civil infrastructure, environmental remediation, and geotechnical engineering align well with the USMCA professions list. Engineers, scientists, and technical consultants with qualifying degrees are the most common TN categories. Roles outside these practice areas, such as administrative or project management positions without a direct technical degree requirement, generally don't meet the USMCA profession criteria.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a CEC offer?
Once CEC issues your offer letter, Canadians travel directly to a U.S. port of entry and present the letter, degree credentials, and completed I-94 payment. Mexican nationals schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment at a U.S. consulate and bring the same documentation. USCIS is not involved for Canadians. The offer letter's accuracy on job duties and profession category determines how smoothly the inspection goes.
How long does TN admission take at CEC?
For Canadians, the process at the port of entry typically takes under an hour if documentation is complete. Mexican nationals should expect consulate appointment wait times to vary by location and season, which can add weeks to the timeline. TN status is granted in two-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely as long as the qualifying employment continues at CEC.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at CEC?
Migrate Mate lets you filter for CEC job postings by visa type, so you can focus on roles the company has supported for TN professionals. Cross-reference any listing against the USMCA professions list before applying to confirm your degree and job duties qualify. Applying through channels familiar with TN candidates, rather than general job boards, tends to reduce back-and-forth with HR on documentation requirements.
How does TN visa admission work at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc.?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc., while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
