Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission requires your role to appear on the USMCA professions list and your degree to match that occupation specifically. For engineering or scientific roles at GEI Consultants, confirm your credential aligns with the listed profession before applying, since border officers evaluate this directly.
Target GEI's technical project teams first
GEI's consulting work spans environmental science, geotechnical engineering, and water resources. Roles in these disciplines are the likeliest fit for TN admission. Focus your application on project-level technical positions rather than support functions, which are less likely to meet the specialty occupation criteria USMCA requires.
Verify your occupation code using O*NET
Look up your role's O*NET occupation profile before your border crossing. The listed minimum education requirement must match your actual degree field. If your job title at GEI differs from the standard USMCA profession name, prepare documentation showing the role's duties align with the listed occupation.
Confirm GEI's offer letter covers all required TN details
Your offer letter from GEI Consultants must specify your USMCA profession category, your anticipated length of stay, and your professional qualifications. Canadian nationals present this at the port of entry. A vague or incomplete letter is the most common reason border officers decline TN admission outright.
Use Migrate Mate to find open TN roles at GEI
Search Migrate Mate to surface GEI Consultants job listings filtered by TN sponsorship history. This lets you identify which teams and role types have supported TN candidates before, so you're not applying blind into departments that have no pattern of hiring Canadian or Mexican nationals on TN status.
Prepare credential documentation for Mexican nationals
Mexican TN applicants must obtain a visa stamp at a U.S. consulate before traveling, unlike Canadians who apply at the border. Book your consular appointment early and bring certified degree translations if your credentials are not in English. USCIS guidance outlines the exact document requirements for this route.
GEI Consultants, Inc. TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does GEI Consultants, Inc. sponsor TN visas?
GEI Consultants, Inc. supports TN admission by issuing offer letters for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions. TN is not a petitioned visa, so GEI doesn't file with USCIS. Instead, the company provides the documentation you need to present at the border or U.S. consulate. Roles in engineering and environmental consulting are the most common fit.
Which roles at GEI Consultants, Inc. typically qualify for TN admission?
GEI's technical disciplines align well with USMCA professions including engineers, scientists, and technical consultants in environmental, geotechnical, and water resources practice areas. Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree in a directly related field are the strongest candidates. Administrative or business development positions are less likely to meet the occupation-specific degree requirement USMCA mandates.
How do I start the TN process if I receive an offer from GEI Consultants, Inc.?
Once GEI issues your offer letter, Canadian nationals proceed directly to a U.S. port of entry with their credentials and documentation. Mexican nationals schedule a consular appointment to obtain a TN visa stamp first. In both cases, you present the offer letter, proof of citizenship, and your degree credentials. The process does not involve a USCIS petition or waiting period.
How long does TN admission take for GEI Consultants, Inc. hires?
Canadian nationals can often receive TN admission the same day at the port of entry, assuming documentation is complete. Mexican nationals face additional lead time to secure a consular appointment, which can range from a few weeks to longer depending on the consulate. Neither route involves USCIS adjudication timelines, making TN one of the faster paths to U.S. work authorization.
How do I find open TN-eligible jobs at GEI Consultants, Inc.?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa sponsorship type, including TN, so you can identify current GEI Consultants openings where the company has a track record of supporting TN candidates. Cross-reference open roles against the USMCA professions list and your own credentials before applying, since not every GEI position will qualify for TN admission regardless of the company's overall willingness to support it.
How does TN visa admission work at GEI Consultants, Inc.?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from GEI Consultants, Inc., while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
