INTRODUCTION
The importance of water to the health of our world can’t be overstated. As the frequency and intensity of floods, droughts and storms increases, the water industry must continue to build resiliency and lead from the front. Together with our clients, we are thinking and doing things differently to help preempt and prepare for what's next. Be a part of this dynamic and committed team of diverse water specialists and drive change for your community. You’ll be able to apply our powerful global network of skills and decades of experience to create positive water outcomes that respect nature and nurture communities.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In response to steady growth within our Water/Wastewater business, our US Design Delivery Organization (DDO) is looking to bring onboard an accomplished Lead Process Engineer to serve as a key technical catalyst, integrating advanced process expertise into the delivery of complex wastewater treatment projects across the United States. Working alongside the firm’s most senior national experts, you will act as a technical bridge—collaborating with regional Project Managers and Client Service Managers to win new work and ensure technical excellence in project execution. You will be instrumental in translating complex engineering fundamentals into practical engineering solutions, while simultaneously mentoring junior staff and elevating the firm’s profile through active participation in professional publications and regional and national conferences. Beyond your national role, you will engage with local clients in New York State to build the regional business through relationship building and finding practical solutions best fit for their needs.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues, or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.
- Community of Practice Management: Participate in and contribute to a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to build own capability and develop innovative practice among colleagues.
- Engineering Solutions Design: Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conform to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
- Feasibility Studies: Conduct complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure.
- Health, Safety, and Environment: Monitor and review performance against health, safety, and environment (HSE) key performance indicators (KPIs) and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility. Take action to improve performance and to resolve noncompliance with the organization's HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions.
- Product and Solution Development: Analyze and evaluate the feasibility and relevance of proposed complex products and services and develop and amend, as necessary, with guidance from senior colleagues. May also be responsible for supervising activities performed by a product development or specialist team.
- Project Management: Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
- Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response: Gather information and resources, draft and complete proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to complex bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (PhD in Civil or Environmental preferred)
- Professional Engineer license
- 10 years of experience in wastewater treatment and research
- Ability to lead process engineering for a large complex wastewater treatment project
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to develop, mentor and lead professional technical staff
- Strong business development, proposal preparation, and marketing skills
COMPENSATION
- Salary Range: $107,000 - $178,750 based on experience and location.

Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility depends on whether your role appears on the USMCA professions list, not just your job title at GHD. Cross-reference your degree and duties against the list before applying, since a mismatch at the border means an immediate denial with no appeal option.
Target GHD's technical delivery teams
GHD's infrastructure, water, and environmental divisions hire the most TN-eligible professionals, particularly engineers, geoscientists, and scientific consultants. Focusing your search on project delivery and technical advisory roles gives you the strongest alignment with positions GHD regularly issues TN support letters for.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm GHD's sponsorship history
Before investing time in GHD's application process, verify their TN hiring activity by searching employer records on Migrate Mate. Seeing which disciplines GHD has historically supported helps you target the right teams and frame your application around roles they already know how to onboard.
Request a detailed offer letter before traveling
Canadian TN applicants present their offer letter directly at a port of entry, so GHD's letter must specify your job title, USMCA profession category, employer details, and intended duration. A vague or incomplete letter gives CBP officers grounds to refuse admission, even with a valid degree and job offer.
Align your resume to O*NET occupation descriptions
CBP officers assess your qualifications against the USMCA profession's standard duties. Structuring your resume so that your day-to-day responsibilities closely mirror the O*NET occupation description for your role strengthens the case that your position at GHD qualifies under the correct TN category.
Prepare for salary questions using government wage data
GHD must offer a wage that reflects genuine employment intent, and CBP may ask about compensation at the port of entry. Researching prevailing rates for your occupation and location through the OFLC Wage Search or BLS beforehand ensures you can answer confidently and verify the offer is reasonable.
GHD TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does GHD sponsor TN visas?
Yes, GHD issues offer letters that support TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions. Because TN is treaty-based admission rather than an employer petition, GHD's role is to provide documentation confirming your job title, duties, and qualifications, which you then present at the border or a U.S. consulate.
Which roles at GHD are most likely to qualify for TN status?
Engineering, environmental science, geology, and management consulting roles are the most common TN-eligible positions at GHD, given the firm's focus on infrastructure, water, and energy projects. Roles in project management, scientific analysis, and technical advisory services also frequently align with USMCA profession categories, provided your degree matches the specific occupation.
How do I start the TN process once GHD extends an offer?
After receiving GHD's offer letter, Canadians can proceed directly to a U.S. port of entry with supporting documents including the letter, proof of citizenship, and credential evidence. Mexican nationals must schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate. You can search verified GHD job postings on Migrate Mate to find roles with confirmed TN support.
How long does TN admission typically take at the border?
For Canadians, TN admission is adjudicated on the spot at a land port of entry or preclearance airport, typically taking under two hours when documentation is complete. Mexican nationals face a longer consular appointment process. TN status is granted for up to three years and can be renewed indefinitely with a continued qualifying job offer from GHD.
What documents should I bring to support my TN admission for a GHD role?
You'll need GHD's offer letter clearly stating your USMCA profession category, your Canadian or Mexican passport, official academic transcripts or degree certificates, and any professional licenses relevant to your role. For engineering or scientific positions, having credential evaluation documentation ready addresses common CBP questions about how your qualifications map to U.S. professional standards.
How does TN visa admission work at GHD?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from GHD, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
