Align your credentials to USMCA categories
TN admission requires your role to match a profession on the USMCA list. For Hazen and Sawyer, that typically means civil, environmental, or chemical engineer. Verify your degree field maps directly to the job title before applying, since a mismatch is grounds for immediate border denial.
Target environmental and water infrastructure teams
Hazen and Sawyer's core work spans water treatment, stormwater, and wastewater infrastructure. Focus your applications on project engineering and design roles within those practice areas, where TN-eligible titles like Engineer appear most frequently and hiring managers are experienced supporting cross-border professionals.
Request a TN-specific offer letter early
Ask the recruiter explicitly whether the offer letter will include your USMCA profession category, the employer's business address, your anticipated start date, and a description of duties. Canadian professionals present this letter at the port of entry, so every required element must appear before you travel.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm Hazen and Sawyer's sponsorship history
Before investing time in a lengthy interview process, verify that Hazen and Sawyer actively hires for your specific profession category. Migrate Mate surfaces employer-level sponsorship data so you can confirm fit by role type and location, not just company name, saving weeks of misdirected effort.
Research prevailing wages for your engineering discipline
While TN has no LCA requirement, your offered salary still reflects Hazen and Sawyer's wage standards for the role. Run your job title and metro area through the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating, so your counteroffer is grounded in DOL wage data rather than guesswork.
Prepare a duties narrative matching your O*NET profile
Border officers assess whether your actual job duties qualify under the USMCA profession. Print the O*NET profile for your occupation and confirm your role description in the offer letter mirrors the core tasks listed. Gaps between your title and described duties are a common cause of TN delays at entry.

For Canadian citizens, TN status is granted or denied at the border the same day, making it one of the fastest work authorization paths available.
