Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission is only available for occupations on the USMCA professions list. Before applying to HNTB, verify your degree and role title align with a listed category like engineer, scientist, or computer systems analyst. A mismatched title can result in a border denial regardless of your qualifications.
Target HNTB's infrastructure and transportation divisions
HNTB's hiring concentrates in transportation planning, structural engineering, and program management for large public-sector clients. Focusing your application on these practice areas increases the likelihood of reaching a team that routinely works with TN professionals and understands the offer letter requirements.
Request a role-specific offer letter from HR
HNTB's offer letter must state your TN occupation category, specific duties, and intended employment period. At the port of entry, a generic or vague letter creates delays. Ask the HR team to confirm the letter explicitly maps your job duties to the relevant USMCA profession before your border appointment.
Search verified TN-sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to identify open roles at HNTB and other Consulting and Professional Services employers that actively support TN admission. Filtering by visa type and industry helps you prioritize applications to teams with established TN hiring experience rather than starting cold outreach.
Prepare credential documentation before your border crossing
Canadian nationals applying at a port of entry need degree transcripts, professional licenses, and the HNTB offer letter ready for the CBP officer. If your degree is from a non-U.S. institution, a credential evaluation confirming equivalence to a U.S. bachelor's degree strengthens your case and prevents avoidable secondary inspection.
Plan renewals around HNTB project timelines
TN status is granted in three-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely, but each renewal requires a current offer letter reflecting your active role. Align your renewal timeline with your project contract dates at HNTB so the letter reflects ongoing employment and avoids a gap between status periods.
HNTB Corporation TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does HNTB Corporation sponsor TN visas?
Yes, HNTB Corporation supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions. Rather than filing a petition, HNTB issues an offer letter that the candidate presents at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. Roles in engineering, transportation planning, and technical consulting are the most common entry points for TN candidates at HNTB.
Which departments at HNTB Corporation typically hire TN professionals?
HNTB's strongest TN hiring tends to sit within its transportation, infrastructure, and program management practices. Structural engineers, civil engineers, transportation planners, and construction managers hold USMCA-listed occupations that align well with HNTB's project portfolio. Technical and consulting roles supporting public agency clients are where TN candidates most frequently find open positions.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a job offer from HNTB?
Once HNTB extends an offer, you'll work with their HR team to obtain a support letter that specifies your TN occupation category, duties, and employment period. Canadian nationals present this letter at a U.S. port of entry and receive a TN admission decision from CBP that day. Mexican nationals schedule a consular interview and obtain a TN visa stamp before traveling.
How long does TN admission take when working with HNTB?
For Canadians, CBP processes TN admission at the port of entry, so there's no waiting period after the HNTB offer letter is ready. For Mexican nationals, the timeline depends on consular appointment availability, which can range from a few weeks to a couple of months. HNTB's HR team can typically issue the offer letter within one to two weeks of finalizing your offer.
How do I find TN-eligible jobs at HNTB Corporation?
Migrate Mate lists open roles at HNTB and filters by visa type so you can identify positions suited to TN admission. Cross-reference any role title against the USMCA professions list and review the O*NET occupation profile to confirm the duties description matches your credentials before applying, since HNTB's offer letter must map your specific duties to a listed TN category.
How does TN visa admission work at HNTB Corporation?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from HNTB Corporation, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
