Summary
We are seeking a motivated Water Resources Engineer / Modeler to join our team and support a wide range of water resources projects involving advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. This role blends hands-on engineering design with complex 2D H&H analysis, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys both technical modeling and practical infrastructure problem solving. Projects may include developing solutions to challenging flooding issues using a variety of analysis tools including 2-Dimensional modeling. Solution development generally includes detention basins, drainage channel improvement, storm sewer improvements, and surface conveyance improvements (neighborhood streets). The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers, modelers, and CADD staff to deliver high-quality drainage studies that will transition into construction documents. If you’re looking for a role that offers mentorship, technical growth, and collaboration—while allowing you to apply real engineering judgment—this could be a great fit.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for riverine systems, urban drainage, floodplain mapping, and stormwater management projects.
- Develop and implement 1D/2D hydraulic models using tools such as HEC-RAS (1D/2D), TUFLOW, XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, or similar software.
- Support and lead engineering planning studies focused on flood mitigation and the development of solutions to flooding problems.
- Support engineering design and plan production through the development of Drainage Impact Analysis studies.
- Perform GIS-based spatial analysis using ArcGIS or QGIS to support watershed modeling and floodplain studies.
- Coordinate with project teams to develop design solutions for stormwater conveyance systems, culverts, detention facilities, levees, and other water-related infrastructure.
- Participate in design meetings and interdisciplinary coordination to understand project goals and constraints.
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and data collection as needed to support modeling and design.
- Assist with technical reports, model documentation, regulatory submittals, and agency coordination (FEMA, USACE, state and local agencies).
- Review work for completeness and accuracy prior to submission to Project Managers.
- Support proposal development, scope definition, and cost estimating as needed.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in water resources engineering, with exposure to both design and H&H modeling.
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS (1D/2D), TUFLOW, XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, SWMM, or similar.
- Experience with ArcGIS or QGIS preferred.
- Programming experience (Python, MATLAB) for data analysis or automation is beneficial but not required.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Ability to obtain licensure in additional states as required.
- Valid driver’s license for occasional field work.

Match your credentials to USMCA categories
HR Green hires across engineering and environmental disciplines, but TN admission requires your role to fit a named USMCA profession. Pull the O*NET profile for your target title and confirm the occupation aligns with the treaty list before you apply.
Request a role-specific offer letter
HR Green's offer letter needs to name your exact USMCA profession category, your anticipated work location, and your employment duration. A generic consulting offer letter has tripped up TN candidates at the border, so ask HR to confirm these fields before your travel date.
Target project-based consulting teams directly
HR Green staffs many roles through project teams in transportation, water, and environmental services. Applying to those practice areas increases your TN odds because hiring managers there are accustomed to onboarding specialized professionals quickly under treaty-based admission timelines.
Verify your wage against prevailing standards early
TN has no formal wage certification, but HR Green's compensation benchmarks against market rates for consulting engineers and environmental professionals. Run your target title through the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating an offer so you enter salary discussions with realistic, sourced figures.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm HR Green's TN hiring patterns
Before reaching out to HR Green recruiters, search Migrate Mate to see which roles and departments the firm has historically supported for TN professionals. That context helps you frame your application around the practice areas most likely to move quickly on treaty-based candidates.
Prepare credential equivalency documentation in advance
Canadian three-year bachelor's degrees and Mexican licenciatura credentials are generally accepted for TN engineering roles, but border officers may ask for transcript evaluations. Having a credential evaluation from a recognized service ready before your appointment prevents delays at a port of entry.
HR Green, Inc. TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does HR Green, Inc. sponsor TN visas?
Yes. HR Green, Inc. supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in roles that align with USMCA profession categories, particularly in engineering, environmental consulting, and related technical disciplines. The company issues offer letters that candidates present at a port of entry or U.S. consulate. HR Green does not file a petition with USCIS for TN candidates.
Which roles at HR Green, Inc. typically qualify for TN admission?
HR Green's core practice areas in civil engineering, environmental science, transportation planning, and land development align closely with named USMCA professions such as engineer, scientist, and urban planner. Roles in those service lines are the most natural fit for TN candidates. Positions in general business consulting or project coordination may not qualify if they fall outside the treaty's defined profession categories.
How does the TN process work when hired by HR Green, Inc.?
HR Green issues a detailed offer letter specifying your USMCA profession category, the nature of your work, and your employment period. Canadian professionals present that letter at a U.S. port of entry and receive TN status on the spot if approved. Mexican professionals apply at a U.S. consulate and receive a TN visa stamp before traveling. USCIS is not involved in either path.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at HR Green, Inc.?
Search Migrate Mate to identify HR Green roles that have historically supported TN professionals, which helps you target the right practice areas and frame your application effectively. From there, apply directly through HR Green's careers portal and state clearly in your cover materials that you're seeking TN admission under USMCA, including your profession category.
How long does TN admission take when starting at HR Green, Inc.?
Canadian professionals can receive TN status the same day they present their offer letter at a port of entry, making the timeline very short once HR Green issues the offer letter. Mexican professionals should allow several weeks for a consular appointment and processing. TN status is typically granted in two-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely while you remain employed in a qualifying role.
How does TN visa admission work at HR Green, Inc.?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from HR Green, Inc., while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
