Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility depends on your occupation appearing on the USMCA professions list, not just your degree. Cross-reference your job title and duties against the list before applying to any role at Kennesaw State University to avoid a misaligned offer letter.
Target faculty and research postings first
Kennesaw State University's academic and research departments hire most frequently in roles that align with TN-eligible categories like scientists, engineers, and university-level educators. Prioritize these postings over administrative roles, which may fall outside qualifying USMCA occupation definitions.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified TN openings
Migrate Mate surfaces Kennesaw State University job listings filtered for TN-compatible roles, saving you from manually screening dozens of postings that won't qualify. Search by occupation category to see which departments are actively hiring TN-eligible candidates.
Request a detailed offer letter from HR
Kennesaw State University's HR team issues the support letter you'll present at the border or consulate. Ask explicitly for your job title, duties, and educational requirements in writing, as border officers use this to verify your role qualifies under USMCA.
Benchmark your salary against prevailing wages
Although TN doesn't require an LCA, a salary significantly below regional norms can raise questions about the legitimacy of the offer. Use the OFLC Wage Search to confirm your offered compensation aligns with prevailing wages for your occupation in the Atlanta metro area.
Prepare discipline-specific documentation for STEM roles
For science and engineering positions, Canadian candidates entering at the border should carry transcripts, professional licenses, and any publications or credentials specific to their field. Officers at land ports of entry assess qualifications on the spot, so gaps in documentation can cause immediate delays.
Kennesaw State University TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kennesaw State University sponsor TN visas?
Yes, Kennesaw State University supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions. The university issues an offer letter that you present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. TN is not a petition-based visa, so there's no USCIS filing involved on the university's side.
Which roles at Kennesaw State University are typically eligible for TN?
Faculty positions, research scientists, engineers, computer systems analysts, and accountants are among the roles most likely to qualify under the USMCA professions list. Administrative and student-services roles often fall outside eligible categories, so review the USMCA schedule carefully before pursuing those postings. Migrate Mate can help you identify which active listings align with TN-eligible occupations.
How do I apply for TN status to work at Kennesaw State University?
Once Kennesaw State University extends a formal job offer, HR provides a support letter confirming your role, duties, and qualifications. Canadian citizens present this letter at a U.S. land border or preclearance airport for same-day admission. Mexican nationals must schedule a visa appointment at a U.S. consulate and obtain a TN visa stamp before traveling.
How long does the TN process take when working with Kennesaw State University?
Canadian nationals can receive TN status at the port of entry on the same day, assuming documentation is complete and the officer approves the application. Mexican nationals face longer timelines due to U.S. consulate appointment availability, which varies significantly by location and season. Plan for at least several weeks on the Mexican pathway to account for scheduling delays.
What should I include when reaching out to Kennesaw State University recruiters as a TN candidate?
State your citizenship clearly and confirm your role falls within a USMCA-eligible profession in your initial outreach. Kennesaw State University recruiters familiar with international hiring will recognize TN as a straightforward process. Attaching a brief note explaining that TN requires only an offer letter, not a petition, can accelerate internal review and reduce hesitation from hiring managers unfamiliar with the visa type.
How does TN visa admission work at Kennesaw State University?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Kennesaw State University, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
