Verify your role fits USMCA
Not every engineering title at KPFF maps cleanly to a USMCA profession. Cross-reference your specific job description against the TN profession list using O*NET to confirm your occupation qualifies before you approach any hiring manager.
Target KPFF's technical practice groups
KPFF structures its work around structural, civil, and MEP engineering disciplines. Focus your applications on practice areas where your degree aligns directly, since TN requires a clear degree-to-role match that a generalist application rarely demonstrates convincingly.
Request a role-specific offer letter
KPFF's offer letter must state your TN profession category, your specific duties, and your intended period of stay. Ask your hiring contact explicitly whether the letter references the USMCA profession list, since a vague letter is the most common reason for border delays.
Prepare your credential documentation early
Canadian and Mexican engineers often hold degrees that differ in title from U.S. equivalents. Gather transcripts, credential evaluations, and any professional licensure documents before your border or consulate appointment, since KPFF cannot intervene once you're at the port of entry.
Search KPFF openings using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter KPFF job listings by visa type and confirm which roles are actively open to TN candidates. This saves you from applying to positions where the hiring team hasn't confirmed TN support, which is common in large multi-office firms.
Align your salary expectations with prevailing wage
Even though TN doesn't require an LCA, KPFF's compensation for engineering roles typically reflects market rates. Use the OFLC Wage Search to benchmark the prevailing wage for your occupation and location before negotiating, so your offer reflects what the role commands regionally.
KPFF Consulting Engineers TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does KPFF Consulting Engineers sponsor TN visas?
KPFF Consulting Engineers supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals by issuing offer letters for eligible roles. TN is treaty-based admission under USMCA, so KPFF doesn't file a petition or LCA. You present the offer letter at the border or U.S. consulate yourself. Roles in structural, civil, and MEP engineering are the most common fit.
Which roles at KPFF typically qualify for TN admission?
Engineering positions across KPFF's structural, civil, geotechnical, and MEP practice groups are the strongest fit for TN, since these map directly to USMCA-listed professions like engineer and geologist. Roles requiring a specific bachelor's degree in a technical field align most cleanly with the profession-to-degree match that TN requires at the port of entry.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a KPFF offer?
Once KPFF issues your offer letter, Canadian nationals can present it at a U.S. port of entry for admission without a prior visa appointment. Mexican nationals must schedule a consular interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate and obtain a TN visa stamp first. Gather your degree credentials, professional licenses, and the offer letter before either appointment.
How long does TN admission take at the border or consulate?
Canadian nationals applying at the border are typically admitted the same day if their documents are in order. Mexican nationals face consulate wait times that vary by location and season, often ranging from a few days to several weeks for an appointment. USCIS does not adjudicate TN for Canadians, so there's no petition processing delay for that group.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at KPFF Consulting Engineers?
Migrate Mate filters KPFF job listings by visa type, letting you identify roles where TN support has been confirmed rather than guessing from a generic job posting. Cross-check any role you find against the USMCA professions list and your own degree field before applying, since TN eligibility depends on both the job title and your specific academic credentials.
How does TN visa admission work at KPFF Consulting Engineers?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from KPFF Consulting Engineers, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
