Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission is limited to occupations explicitly listed under USMCA. Before applying to LSU Health Sciences Center, verify your role and degree align with a qualifying profession. A mismatch at the border or consulate means denial with no appeal option.
Target research and clinical department openings
LSU Health Sciences Center hires TN professionals most consistently in research, laboratory sciences, and clinical education roles. Focus your search on departments like biomedical sciences, nursing, and public health, where USMCA-qualifying occupations appear most frequently in their postings.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Your offer letter is the foundation of your TN admission. Ask LSU Health Sciences Center's HR team to include your job title mapped to the USMCA profession category, your degree requirement, your salary, and your employment start date before you schedule any border or consulate appointment.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified TN roles
Searching broadly for open positions wastes time on roles that won't support TN admission. Migrate Mate filters jobs by visa type and employer hiring history, so you can identify LSU Health Sciences Center openings that are realistically accessible for TN professionals in your field.
Check prevailing wage before salary negotiations
While TN has no formal DOL wage requirement like H-1B visa, your offered salary affects credibility at the port of entry. Use the OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your role's prevailing wage for New Orleans before finalizing your offer, and confirm your title aligns with O*NET occupation codes.
Plan your entry point based on your nationality
Canadian nationals can present TN documents directly at a U.S. land border or preclearance airport without a prior consulate appointment. Mexican nationals must schedule a consulate interview. LSU Health Sciences Center's offer letter alone doesn't determine your entry path, your passport does.
LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans sponsor TN visas?
LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions. It doesn't file a petition on your behalf. Instead, the institution issues an offer letter documenting your role, qualifications, and employment terms, which you present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate to obtain TN status.
Which roles at LSU Health Sciences Center typically qualify for TN status?
Roles in biomedical research, laboratory sciences, nursing, public health, and clinical education are among the positions most likely to align with USMCA-listed professions at LSU Health Sciences Center. How do I start the TN process with LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans?
Once you receive a job offer, ask HR to prepare a TN support letter that names the USMCA profession category, confirms your degree requirement, states your salary, and specifies your employment period. Canadians take this letter to a port of entry. Mexican nationals use it to apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. No USCIS filing is involved.
How long does TN admission take at LSU Health Sciences Center?
Canadians entering at a land border or preclearance airport can receive TN admission the same day, assuming all documents are in order. Mexican nationals face consulate wait times that vary by location and season. How do I find open TN-eligible jobs at LSU Health Sciences Center?
Migrate Mate lets you search for open positions at LSU Health Sciences Center filtered by TN visa eligibility, so you're not sorting through roles your credentials won't support. Cross-reference any role you find against the USMCA professions list and confirm your degree field matches the position's stated requirements before reaching out to the hiring team.
