Target departments with USMCA-aligned roles
Morgan State's STEM programs, engineering school, and research centers consistently hire for occupations that appear on the USMCA professions list. Focus your search on faculty, research associate, and systems analyst postings rather than general administrative roles that don't qualify for TN admission.
Verify your occupation matches USMCA exactly
TN eligibility depends on your role matching a named USMCA profession, not just your degree field. Cross-reference your job title against O*NET occupation definitions to confirm the duties align with a qualifying category before you apply to any Morgan State posting.
Request a detailed offer letter covering TN requirements
Morgan State's HR team issues offer letters for TN candidates, but the letter must state your job title, duties, degree requirement, and employment period. Ask your hiring contact to confirm the letter addresses each element USCIS border officers expect to review at the port of entry.
Confirm your degree equivalency before the interview
Canadian three-year bachelor's degrees and Mexican licenciatura credentials are generally accepted for TN purposes, but Morgan State may request a credential evaluation for non-U.S. degrees. Have a NACES-member evaluation completed before your offer stage to avoid delays after you've accepted a position.
Search Migrate Mate to find open TN roles at Morgan State
Migrate Mate filters jobs by visa type and employer, so you can see which Morgan State University postings are open to TN professionals without sorting through listings that require H-1B visa sponsorship or permanent residency. Search by role type to narrow results to departments that actively hire TN candidates.
Prepare for annual TN renewal tied to your contract term
TN status at Morgan State is typically tied to your employment contract duration, often one to three years. Renew at the border or through USCIS before your current status expires, and ensure your Morgan State offer or extension letter reflects the new period to avoid gaps in authorization.
Morgan State University TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Morgan State University sponsor TN visas?
Morgan State University supports TN admission by issuing offer letters for Canadian and Mexican nationals hired into USMCA-eligible roles. The university does not file a petition or submit an LCA on your behalf. You present Morgan State's offer letter at the port of entry or U.S. consulate to obtain TN status directly from CBP or a consular officer.
Which roles and departments at Morgan State University are eligible for TN status?
Roles in Morgan State's engineering, computer science, and natural sciences programs align most consistently with USMCA-eligible occupations such as engineer, systems analyst, scientist, and university professor. Research associate and faculty positions are strong candidates. General administrative, facilities, or student affairs roles typically do not qualify because the USMCA professions list requires a direct connection to a named occupation.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Morgan State University offer?
Once Morgan State extends an offer, ask HR to provide a detailed offer letter confirming your job title, duties, required degree, and employment dates. Canadian citizens present this letter at a U.S. land border or preclearance airport. Mexican nationals schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment at a U.S. consulate. Neither route involves a USCIS petition or waiting for employer-filed paperwork.
How long does TN admission take for Morgan State University hires?
Canadian citizens can receive TN admission the same day at a land port of entry if their documents are complete. Mexican nationals wait for a consular appointment, which varies by location and season. In both cases, processing time depends almost entirely on the applicant's document preparation and appointment availability, not on any action Morgan State takes after issuing the offer letter.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at Morgan State University?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings by visa type and employer, making it straightforward to identify Morgan State University postings that are open to TN professionals. You can also search Morgan State's careers portal directly and look for faculty, research, or technical roles in departments where USMCA-eligible occupations are common. Confirm each role's duties align with a named USMCA profession before applying.
How does TN visa admission work at Morgan State University?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Morgan State University, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
