Match your role to USMCA professions
Regent University hires across theology, law, business, and education faculties. Before applying, confirm your target role maps to a recognized USMCA profession category, not every academic position qualifies, and a mismatch at the border causes immediate problems.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Regent's offer letter must specify your job title, duties, salary, and start date in language that mirrors USMCA profession definitions. Ask HR explicitly for a TN-compliant letter before scheduling your port-of-entry or consular appointment.
Verify your credentials match degree requirements
Most USMCA professions require a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree. For faculty roles at Regent, a terminal degree in your discipline is standard. Gather transcripts and, if needed, a credential evaluation confirming U.S. equivalency before your appointment.
Search Migrate Mate for Regent TN openings
Use Migrate Mate to filter Regent University job listings by TN visa eligibility. The platform surfaces roles where Regent has supported TN admission historically, saving you from applying to positions outside qualifying USMCA categories.
Prepare for border questioning on academic duties
CBP officers at ports of entry scrutinize education-sector TN admissions closely. Bring your offer letter, degree credentials, and a one-page summary of your specific teaching or research duties to demonstrate that your role is a specialty function, not general staff work.
Understand TN renewal timing at universities
TN status is granted in three-year increments and tied to your Regent employment. If your contract is term-limited or grant-funded, coordinate renewal well before expiration so a funding gap doesn't interrupt your status continuity.
Regent University TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Regent University sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Regent University supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions. The university issues an offer letter that you present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate, there is no USCIS petition involved. Roles in education, research, and computer systems analysis are the most common entry points for TN candidates at Regent.
Which departments at Regent University typically hire TN professionals?
Regent's schools of education, law, business, and behavioral and health sciences hire the most TN-eligible professionals. Faculty and research positions are the most frequent fit because they map cleanly to USMCA profession categories like teacher and scientific technician. Administrative IT roles occasionally qualify under the computer systems analyst category.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Regent University offer?
Once Regent issues a TN-compliant offer letter, Canadians present it directly at a U.S. land border or preclearance airport. Mexican nationals schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate. In both cases, bring degree credentials and documentation of your specific duties. There is no USCIS filing or waiting period, admission is adjudicated on the spot.
How long does TN admission take for Regent University roles?
Canadians can be admitted the same day at the port of entry if documentation is complete. Mexican nationals face consular appointment wait times that vary by location and season, often ranging from a few days to several weeks. Regent's HR team can usually turn around a compliant offer letter within one to two weeks of accepting your offer.
How do I find open TN-eligible jobs at Regent University?
Use Migrate Mate to search Regent University listings filtered by TN visa eligibility. Reviewing the USMCA professions list alongside Regent's posted job descriptions helps you identify roles where your degree and duties align before you apply. Targeting positions with clear specialty occupation language strengthens your case at the port of entry or consulate.
How does TN visa admission work at Regent University?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Regent University, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
