Match your role to USMCA professions
TN admission at Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is only available for roles on the USMCA professions list. Before applying, verify your target position maps to a recognized TN category like engineer, scientific technician, or management consultant using O*NET occupation definitions.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. issues the support letter you'll present at the border or consulate. Ask your recruiter to include your specific job title, duties, USMCA profession category, and employment period. Vague letters are the most common reason TN admission gets questioned at the port of entry.
Target engineering and technical consulting teams
SSR's core work spans MEP engineering, technology consulting, and facilities management. These disciplines map cleanly to USMCA-eligible categories. Focus your job search on roles in those practice areas, since that's where TN professionals most commonly land at this firm.
Find SSR's active TN roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa type, so you can see Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. openings that match TN-eligible roles directly. Search by your target profession and Canadian or Mexican nationality to surface relevant positions before applying through SSR's own careers portal.
Prepare credentials that prove specialty qualification
Border officers assess your qualifications on the spot. Bring your degree transcripts, professional licenses, and a resume that directly ties your background to the USMCA profession listed in your offer letter. A credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization helps if your degree is from outside North America.
Plan for TN renewal before your status expires
TN status is granted in three-year increments with no statutory limit on renewals. If SSR continues your employment, they'll need to issue a new offer letter each renewal cycle. Build in at least 60 days before expiration to allow time for preparing documents and scheduling any necessary border or consulate visit.
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. sponsor TN visas?
Yes, Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. supports TN admission for qualifying Canadian and Mexican professionals. TN isn't a petition-based visa, so SSR doesn't file with USCIS on your behalf. Instead, they issue an offer letter documenting your role, duties, and USMCA profession category, which you present at the port of entry or U.S. consulate.
Which roles at Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. typically qualify for TN status?
SSR's engineering, technology consulting, and facilities management teams offer the strongest alignment with USMCA-eligible professions. Roles such as engineer, management consultant, and scientific technician appear regularly in their hiring. Your specific job title and duties must map to a recognized USMCA profession category for TN admission to be approved at the border.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a job offer from SSR?
Once you have an offer, ask your SSR recruiter or HR contact for a formal support letter that includes your job title, a description of duties tied to a USMCA profession, your salary, and your anticipated start date. Canadians present this letter at a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate before traveling.
How long does TN admission take at Smith Seckman Reid, Inc.?
Canadian nationals can often receive TN admission the same day at a land border or pre-clearance airport, provided all documents are in order. Mexican nationals face a longer timeline because they must schedule and attend a consulate interview. Consulate appointment wait times vary by location, so Mexican applicants should factor in several weeks of lead time.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at Smith Seckman Reid, Inc.?
Migrate Mate lets you filter open positions by visa type and employer, making it easier to identify SSR roles that align with USMCA-eligible categories. Cross-reference any role you're considering against the USMCA professions list before applying, and confirm with SSR's recruiter that the position has supported TN admission for previous hires in that function.
How does TN visa admission work at Smith Seckman Reid, Inc.?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Smith Seckman Reid, Inc., while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
