Align your credentials to USMCA professions
The TN category is limited to specific USMCA professions, so confirm your degree and job title map directly to a listed occupation before applying at Stantec. Engineering and architecture roles are common fits, but your credential field must match the specific classification.
Target Stantec's project-based technical teams
Stantec hires TN professionals most actively in civil, structural, environmental, and transportation engineering practices. Targeting open roles within these disciplines, rather than corporate or generalist positions, puts you in front of hiring managers who already understand TN admission timelines and documentation.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Stantec's offer letter must specify your job title, USMCA profession category, anticipated start date, and employment terms. Ask your recruiter explicitly for a TN-ready letter before your border or consulate appointment, since missing details are the most common cause of delays at the port of entry.
Verify your wage against OFLC Wage Search
While TN doesn't require a formal prevailing wage filing, Stantec's offer salary should reflect market rates for your role and location. Cross-check the OFLC Wage Search and O*NET occupation profile before your interview so you can negotiate confidently and avoid offers that may complicate future status changes.
Search Migrate Mate for Stantec TN openings
Before reaching out to Stantec directly, search Migrate Mate to identify which of their current U.S. roles are open to TN professionals. Filtering by TN eligibility saves time and focuses your applications on positions where the hiring team is already set up to support your admission.
Prepare Canadian or Mexican documentation separately
Canadian nationals present their TN documentation at a U.S. port of entry without a prior consular appointment, while Mexican nationals must schedule a consulate interview. Confirm which process applies to your citizenship and build your timeline with Stantec's HR team accordingly to avoid a gap between your offer date and your admitted start date.
Stantec TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Stantec sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Stantec hires Canadian and Mexican nationals in USMCA-listed professions and issues offer letters that support TN admission. The company does not file a petition with USCIS, since TN is treaty-based. You present Stantec's offer letter and your supporting credentials directly at the border or at a U.S. consulate, depending on your citizenship.
Which roles at Stantec are typically eligible for TN admission?
TN admission at Stantec is most common in engineering and architecture disciplines, including civil, structural, environmental, mechanical, and transportation engineering. These roles align directly with USMCA profession categories. Positions in consulting, project management, or business development may not qualify unless the job duties and your credentials map to a specifically listed USMCA occupation.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Stantec offer?
Once you have a written offer from Stantec, ask HR to prepare a TN support letter that includes your job title, USMCA profession classification, start date, and compensation terms. Canadian nationals take that letter to a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals schedule a consulate appointment. USCIS is not involved in this process, and there is no petition filing period to wait out.
How long does TN admission processing take for Stantec hires?
Canadian nationals can often receive TN admission the same day at a port of entry, assuming documentation is complete. Mexican nationals face longer timelines due to consulate appointment scheduling, which can range from a few weeks to several months depending on the post. Coordinate your target start date with Stantec's onboarding team as early as possible to account for this difference.
How do I find TN-eligible jobs at Stantec?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Stantec job listings by visa type, so you can identify open roles that are compatible with TN admission before applying. This is more efficient than reviewing every listing manually. Once you identify a target role, confirm with the recruiter that the position's duties and title align with a USMCA profession category before submitting your application.
How does TN visa admission work at Stantec?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Stantec, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
