Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. The Natural Sciences Department at LaGuardia Community College, part of the City University of New York, is inviting applications for part-time faculty positions. We are seeking instructors to teach college-level human anatomy & physiology courses for the Fall 2026 semester, starting on September 1, 2026. The successful candidate(s) will be required to perform teaching and guidance duties in the area(s) of expertise. This includes teaching lectures and/or labs, creating, administering, and grading assessments (quizzes, exams, lab reports), and providing student guidance.
SCB 203 Human Anatomy and Physiology I: Part one of a two-semester introduction to human anatomy and physiology that examines the relationships between the structure and function of organs and organ systems in the maintenance of normal function in the whole organism. Lecture and Lab topics include the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems.
Qualifications
For Adjunct Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in biology or related field required. The ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Research experience using Drosophila Melanogaster is required. Teaching experience at the college level is highly desirable.
For Adjunct Lecturer: Master's degree or enrollment in a biology/neuroscience graduate program preferred. The ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
