Align your credentials to USMCA professions
Touro University hires across health sciences, education, and research, but TN admission only covers specific USMCA profession categories. Cross-reference your degree and job title against the official USMCA professions list before applying to confirm you qualify for the role you're targeting.
Target departments with recurring TN needs
Faculty, clinical instructors, and research scientists at Touro University are among the roles most consistently filled by TN professionals. Focus your search on these departments rather than administrative or operations positions, which are less likely to fall within USMCA-eligible occupation categories.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Touro University's offer letter is your primary TN admission document, not an USCIS petition. Ask HR to include your job title, USMCA profession category, employment start date, and compensation details before your border or consulate appointment, since officers scrutinize these specifics closely.
Verify your wage against the OFLC Wage Search
Although TN doesn't require a formal Labor Condition Application, Canadian and Mexican professionals entering at the border can face questions about wage compliance. Pull the prevailing wage for your role and location using OFLC Wage Search and confirm your offer meets or exceeds that level.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-active education employers
Before committing to Touro University, map the broader landscape of education employers who regularly support TN professionals. Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data by employer and occupation, so you can identify which institutions in your specialty have the strongest TN hiring track records.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation in advance
Touro University roles in health sciences and research often require graduate-level credentials. If your degree is from outside the U.S. or Canada, obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-member evaluator before your appointment, as border officers can and do request proof of academic equivalency on the spot.
Touro University TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Touro University sponsor TN visas?
Touro University supports TN admission by issuing offer letters for qualifying Canadian and Mexican professionals in USMCA-eligible roles. The university does not file a USCIS petition for TN candidates. Instead, you present Touro's offer letter at the border or consulate. Roles in health sciences, education, and research are most frequently filled through TN admission at Touro.
Which roles and departments at Touro University typically qualify for TN admission?
Faculty positions, clinical instructors, pharmacists, physical therapists, and research scientists are among the roles at Touro University that most commonly align with USMCA profession categories. Administrative and support roles are generally not TN-eligible. Reviewing your specific job title against the USMCA professions list before applying is essential, as eligibility depends on both the role and your credentials.
How do I apply for TN admission with a Touro University job offer?
Once Touro University extends a formal offer and provides a detailed support letter, Canadian citizens can request TN admission directly at a U.S. port of entry without advance visa processing. Mexican nationals must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate abroad. In both cases, you'll present the offer letter, your credentials, and supporting documentation to the admitting officer.
How long does the TN process take when working with Touro University?
For Canadian nationals, TN admission at the border is typically granted the same day if documentation is complete. Mexican nationals applying at a consulate should expect standard nonimmigrant visa processing timelines, which vary by location and appointment availability. Coordinate your start date with Touro's HR team after confirming your appointment date to avoid gaps in authorization.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at Touro University?
Search Touro University's careers portal and filter for roles in health sciences, education, and research that match your USMCA profession category. Migrate Mate also aggregates employer hiring data so you can identify active openings and compare Touro's TN hiring patterns against other education employers in your field before reaching out to recruiters.
How does TN visa admission work at Touro University?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Touro University, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
